Me a criminal , why not

I get up like every morning and I sleep in a forest. Most of the people who come here get lost but not me because I'm used to it.I'm hungry let's see what we have for today . I decide to pick some fruit from the tree but there is none left. I have no choice now but to go to the village.

I move from tree to tree and finally arrive in the village. The village is really big, there are houses but not a lot of people or just visitors. The place that interests me is the market, they sell everything, magic weapons, swords, jewels and also food. Today by chance, there are a lot of people, I think there must be a lot of strangers so I can steal without being noticed.

"Come to my stand I sell good fish, come closer" says a merchant. As there are not really many people here the merchants do the necessary but they sell almost nothing.

Today I'm going to eat fish. That sounds great. I get closer to where the fish are and decide to take some without the merchant noticing me, then comes the moment when I have to run away but the merchant grabs my arm

" Where do you plan to go thief ? " He looked very angry and my arm is hurting. He is so strong for a fat man. But I manage to free myself from his grip still with the fish in my hand then I decide to run away.

" Guard please stop this thief," He said, starting to run behind me .

Two guards dressed entirely in their blue uniforms start to chase me despite the fact that I started to run before them, the fact that there are a lot of people bothers me I keep bumping into people and then I drop a lady on the floor and I help her pick up what I dropped.

"Excuse me ma'am, I didn't do it on purpose." I respond apologetically.

" Don't worry, it's not serious as long as you're ok" She said watching me. She kinda looks kind to me not like the merchant but they try to catch me but I run to the lady to get her protection.

" Leave her you don't see how scared she is" She took me in her arms.

She is nicer than anyone else with me here , she murmurs to me.

" What have you done? " Maybe I should tell her the truth, I thought for a minute and then saw that she looked softly at me.

"I stole a fish, but I was really hungry" I say a little worried about what is going to happen to me, are they going to put me in jail.

" Well then, I will pay you little girl. How much is it." The merchant looked surprised but then smiled as he was going to earn money.

" It's 12 jewels, ma'am ." The lady took her purse and then paid. I wish she could stay with me and pay for me everyday.

"Thank you ma'am, thanks to you I will be able to eat today" I said before my belly started to rumble.

"You're welcome but tell me your name?" She looks to be interested in me.

" My name is Ava," Since today nobody has ever talked to me , today is going to be a great day.

" That's a nice name you have, how old are you?"

" I am 7 years old" I respond.

" Where are your parents Ava?" I'm a little sad when she says that I don't like to talk about it.

"I don't know ma'am. I just remember living here alone "

"Tell me do you want to come with me?" Is this a trap? Maybe I shouldn't trust her so much.

" It's really true ma'am ?"I just stay with her now and I don't have anywhere else to go .

"Yes of course follow me we have a long way to go" she took my hand in hers but I stopped.

" Wait ma'am I have to go and get something first you can come with me" I have to go get Cookies first.

"Yes don't worry, let's go Ava"

I take the lady's hand and lead her into the forest. We walk until we get to a cave and inside it is very dark,with rocks in it.

"This is where you used to live" she watches everywhere like she doesn't believe me, I don't care what she's thinking for me she is just a way out of here.

" Yes, this cave is my home.Wait for me, I'll go and get something and I'll come."

I enter the cave and walk and then stop for a moment. Where the hell is she, I don't want to play hide and seek today.

" Cookies, where are you? " I start screaming until a cat comes.

"Oh you're here, let's get out of here."

Cookies jumped into my arms and I met the lady who was waiting for me outside the cave.

"We can go now." She had a suspicious look on her face.

" I see the fish were for the cat." She looks at Cookies before turning to face me.

" Yes but her name is Cookies, I can't let her starve to death here " She is weird to just accept me like that.

" Well now it's time to go, I hope you can keep up with me, I'm pretty fast." I will just stay with her to get a safe place to leave. And when I will earn a lot of money I will let her.

"Don't worry I'll be right behind you with Cookies" I respond.

The lady starts to move quite fast but I keep the pace. When I'm right next to her, she looks at me and she looks impressed. But that is nothing difficult for me. Is she underestimating me?

" Is your place far away?" I asked. I hoped it wasn't a trap but even if it is,she doesn't look to have a lot of magic so she will be easier to kill if she is a problem to me.

"We will be there in 4 hours," She responded. It's long 4 hours, I thought.

We keep walking and after 4 hours we arrive in the city. It is huge and it seems to be very well protected. There are buildings everywhere, with even more people than where I was before. I was really impressed and I couldn't stop looking everywhere. It would be difficult to steal here.

" You look really impressed by what you see. You lived in a small village for a long time so now welcome to the capital ,this is where all the big mages are."

" Okay." I respond,what should I say , I don't even know what I'm going to do.

" Well now it's time for me to show you my home" She looked very excited, she must be stupid I think.

The lady takes me to her house. From the outside it's a normal size house with a garden with trees and then when we get inside it's surprisingly big. In the living room there's a sofa and a TV, the kitchen is normal. It's a house with the bedrooms upstairs and the garden is big enough to run around in

"Come on, let's go upstairs and I'll show you your room" If she try to do something to me I won't hesitate and kill her.

"Yes ma'am" I respond with a fake smile.

We go upstairs and there are 2 rooms and the lady takes me to the second room.

" This will be your room from now on" I didn't respond and just went to the room , it's not really big but it will be alright for me. There is no decoration, just a bed.

" Now you go and take a shower because you are really dirty, you have mud on your clothes and your hair looks dirty"

The lady takes me in the shower I take off my clothes. I shower and the lady comes to wash my hair and I take advantage of it to make her fall in the bath with me to drown her. She is too strong for me, she laughs before standing.

I look closely at her, she has red hair with black eyes ,she has dark circles ,she seems to me to be rather young. After a few minutes we got out of the bathroom and she gave me some clothes. I put them on but they are a little bit too big for me

"Don't worry even if these clothes are big, tomorrow I'll go and buy you some more clothes"

I don't respond to her. I still don't trust her for now and I think she noticed it.

"Would you like to go and prepare dinner together?" I just nod in response .

We then went to the kitchen, I just realized that I don't know how to cook. She helped me and told me what I should do. I could kill her with a knife but it's not the right moment for that. We finished cooking and then put the dishes on the table. There are 3 dishes. That's weird.

" Someone else is coming to eat with us" I say confused

" Yes, I don't live alone." Someone else to kill. Hugh that will be difficult.

After she puts the cutlery on the table someone opens the door.

" It's me, I'm back"

"What took you so long Louise"

" Well the mission was harder than usual, that's what took me so long "She notices me

" Who is this girl you brought back, Rose?" She looks kinda confused.

"Her name is Ava. I found her in the village not far from here. She didn't have a home and food. I couldn't just leave her there without doing anything."She took me with her because she was feeling pity for me.How kind.

"Yes, don't worry, I don't mind keeping her and she seems to be a nice person"

I'm not a nice person but now I will have to plan something to steal from them and then leave.I look at Louise and she has black hair and black eyes too, she looks exhausted.

" Now it's time to eat, enjoy your meal " She said.

The meal goes on in a good mood and I take the opportunity to feed Cookies too. I was eating really fast since it has been a while since I had eaten like this.

"Me and Rose are married Ava," said Louise but even if they are two girls it doesn't affect me.

" Um okay . I just wanted to thank you for taking me in, most people run away when they see me but you guys are very kind " I don't think any word of what I had said.

" You're welcome, but don't worry, we're here for you." say Rose while eating.

" Well I'm going to go to sleep, I'm really tired, see you tomorrow" I can't stay here too long.

" See you tomorrow" Say Rose and Louise .I go up to 'my' room leaving Louise and Rose alone and go to my bed.

I've had a pretty good day . I didn't think anyone would ever come to help me but it happened. I wonder what's going to happen to me afterwards. I pet Cookies one last time and then fall asleep.
