**ADDIE'S POV**

I knew that there was nothing that I could do to make this encounter end peacefully. Not with all the people that were surrounding us. The moment that any of us tried to make a move toward them, we would have all of the vampires as well as Professor Lane rushing toward us for the attack. And that was when I would need to step in.

I don't care what Nolan said about it or what he thought I ought to be doing. I was going to protect him and the others. It was like the headmaster had said. I was the saint, right? That's what Callum, Juliana, and Grandfather Yuri were always telling me. So, why not live up to that title? I would handle these people as best as I could.

However, unlike my previous serious fights, I wouldn't kill them. They were not that lizard monster from the mountains, and they weren't that insect monster from earlier today. I couldn't and wouldn't take their lives. I was not like them. I wasn't a murderer.
