Dander

He stood opposite a stout boy in full shining plate armour. His nerves were going haywire and the singular slit in his helmet wasn't helping. He could feel his breath against his face and the crowd's cheers rang in his ears. A single cry from the announcer was all he needed, he planted his feet into the uneven ground and charged.

The boy before him raised his shield as Dander's poleaxe came crashing down. Falling to one knee the boy swung at his opponent's leg, but the sword bounced off. Dander grinned, and raising his axe above his head swung at the boy again. Letting out a cry of fear the boy raised his shield but the impact forced him to the ground anyway. "I yield, I yield!" the boy cried out and the crowd rose in cheer. Raising the visor of his helmet Dander hefted his poleaxe above his head. He then reached out and helped the other squire off the muddy ground. "Next!" the announcer cried and they quickly left the field.

As Dander sat down next to Jaime, the two next contestants walked out onto the field, one wore pristine armour with a red trout on his shield. "That's Myles Mooton squire to Rhaegar Targaryen," Jaime said leaning over. Dander frowned, "And him?" he asked pointing at the squire wearing strange mismatched armour with a black rose haphazardly drawn on the breastplate. Jaime nearly burst out laughing as some other nobles did, "Probably some headknight's squire."

The fight didn't look fair in the slightest, as Mooton loomed over the much smaller squire. "On the right, hailing from Maidenpool, Myles Mooton, squire to Prince Rhaegar." The crowd roared. "And on the left," he paused, " the squire of the rose." No one cheered this time.

The bout was over as soon as it had started, the squire of the rose stood above Mooton his sword the other squire's throat. The crowd was silent, shock written on their faces.
