Poisoned Sandwich

"Thank You" The three kids said.

"You don't have to thank me. It's my responsibility" Xue Luli said as she bent down.

With a lot of emotions in her eyes, she said

"I know I've been unfair to the three of you and I'm very sorry. I promise to treat you well from now"

Xue Luli didn't say much after that. She later told the kids to go downstairs to have their breakfast.

'Why was she being nice to them all of a sudden' was the question that ran through their little minds

"Do you think that she really meant what she said?" Little Li asked as her eyes revealed a lot of confusion.

"Whether or not she meant what she said, we should be careful." Lu Jin said skeptically. When they got to the kitchen, they saw three plates of perfectly made sandwiches. Each plate had their names on it.

This was the first time they had seen a sandwich in their house. Though they had seen it before in school with their classmates, this was the first time they were actually going to eat one.

Everything was happening too fast. First, their mother completely changed overnight, they were now wearing new clothes and now they were going to have their long awaited dream of eating a sandwich.

"I think I should take a bite first, just in case it's poisoned" Little Jin said

As heartbreaking as it sounds, this was how the three children felt. Their mother had never showed them an ounce of love and care ever since they could walk. They had given up all hope that they could ever get the love and care of a mother. Their father and their nanny was the only one they could look up to for affection.

This is very understandable. If someone who had never given you attention suddenly starts showering you with love, surely one would think that there is a motive behind it.

"No Big brother. Let me eat it first. Among the three of us, you're more capable of looking after our younger sister than I am" Little Xi said as he grabbed the sandwich.

"Brother..." Little Li said as her eyes became teary.

"Xiao Xi..." Before Lu Jin could stop him, Lu Xi had already taken a bite

"Are you Ok?" Lu JIn asked frantically.

"Hmmmmm" A pleasurable sound emanated from Lu Xi's mouth.

One could tell that Lu Xi was extremely satisfied with the taste of the sandwich with the way he closed his eyes and licked his slips.

"Is it poisoned?" Little Li asked

"I don't know....but if it is, this is the best poisoned sandwich ever" Little Xi said as he grabbed the milk that was beside his plate.

"You don't know if it's poisoned yet you're still eating. Xiao Xi are you mad?" Lu Jin asked

"Big brother since I've already started eating it...I think I should just finish everything" Little Jin said as he relished every taste
