Man that cliffhanger was very well timed. As for the plot armor why don't you awaken silver''s instinct from his previous life since even tho he was fundamentally a researcher, he still travelled around and got into may battles and wars. This way he dodges the attack and gives a straight good old right hook like BAM!
This whole chapter was pathetic. Look, I don't mean to say that MC losing is bad. If the MC put his all into the fight, used his smarts and magic properly, and still lost, then that would have been fine. I could have accepted that. But here the MC simply threw his brain and weapon away and went Yolo fist-fight against someone who was clearly physically superior to him, not even properly using his magic because 'honor' or some BS. Disgustingly pathetic. Especially since the whole schtick of this MC was the smarts that allowed him to overcome unfavorable situations. It is simply disappointing to see MC's intelligence degrade so much because the author wants him to lose.
