"It looks wonderful on you Regina but it doesn't look like any of the ones I picked out before. Was there trouble in the dressing room again?" Rachel gave her daughter a knowing look since this wasn't the first time Regina caused a ruckus. Regina should love that her mother was helping her pick out the finest dresses which showcased all of her body.
"I wasn't able to move around in half of them and the other half were sucking the air out of me. Every move I made was painful," Regina started tugging at the dress she finally made up her mind to wear. After what she just went through, she picked the most comfortable one and decided to stick with it so she wouldn't have to try on anything else.
"Beauty comes with pain sweetheart. You will be the most beautiful thing anyone has ever seen at the harvest moon festival and the parties we attend. Give me a twirl and let me see how the back looks," said Rachel.
Regina awkwardly tip-toed as it was the only way she could spin around. "You pick out dresses I can't move around in but then want me to do a twirl. If beauty is pain I will rather be ugly."
"Regina! Stop talking about such nonsense right in this instance and straighten your back. Just because we are the only ones here does not mean you can just slack off. I don't know if I like this dress," Rachel said after giving it a second look. If it did not continue to give her a wow factor then it was not the right dress.
Madame Eloise paled at the thought she would have to go through the dreadful process of finding Regina another dress. When they attended parties the young hamilton heiress appeared so doll-like from afar but up close she was making them work harder than they wanted to.
"I like this dress a lot, mother. What do you think, Aurora?" Questioned Regina. She was the first one to notice Aurora had returned to them in a dress. Regina loved the black dress Aurora had picked out. It complimented her sister wonderfully and there was no doubt in her mind that Aurora would be the most beautiful one there. "That looks amazing on you Aurora."
"Thank you. I love the one you have on," replied Aurora, taking a stand right next to Regina. Though noticed how much Regina was tugging at the material. Why were they trying to force her into something which was tight in some places of her body? The dress should be made to fit them and not the other way around.
"I'm going to need to lose a little bit of weight for it to be perfect but it was the best out of the worst. If anything, I have my secret weapon." Regina meant some dresses she bought after her classes that fit her body just right. Getting rid of the dresses her mother bought won't be too hard because she had her trusted friend, scissors.
"What secret weapon?" Rachel asked suspiciously about her daughter. She was almost up to date with all the things Regina liked to do to get rid of her dresses.
Coming to her sister's defense Aurora said, "The shoes you bought for her recently are her secret weapon. They can help enhance the dress and Regina's beauty."
"Smooth," Regina softly commented. Their mother did not seem to buy it completely but she dropped it for now. "What do you think about my dress Minnie but more importantly how does Aurora's dress look? She looks seductive enough to make the king fall for her. We can extend our family to royalty!"
"I don't know about all of that." Aurora did not see herself being able to seduce the king, not that she wanted to. Now that she confirmed she was not normal, the king was the last person she wanted to be seen by.
"I've told you to think before you speak many times Regina."
"Relax mother, it's a compliment to her beauty. It's about time someone hypes her up since she is beautiful. She is the most beautiful person here and to toot my own horn, I am right behind her." Regina heard a few gasps behind her from the store attendants but that was her honest opinion and if they did not like it they could all go cry quietly in the carriage.
Aurora blushed after being put on the spot thanks to Regina's compliment. She didn't miss the muttering behind her now that the attendants were talking about her. At this point, she didn't care what other people said about her because she could not control the circumstances behind her birth. What made her uneasy was the way Minnie was looking at her after Regina made the compliment about the King. Minnie looked completely upset about it.
"It's a beautiful dress Aurora but I don't think it will be right for this occasion. Madame Eloise, pick out the normal ones for Aurora since she needs some help. Regina, go along with the ones your mother picked out for you. End of discussion," Minnie said, solving the issue.
"What was the point of giving us the option to choose a dress? Was it just to humor us to think we can wear what we want?" Aurora's question took everyone by surprise as she was normally quiet and did what she was told without any hesitation.
"Because I can do and say as I please. I am the head of this family and what I say goes. This is the last time that I will repeat myself that the dress does not fit the occasion of the harvest moon festival. You are there to have fun, not to be seducing anyone. Isn't that right Madame Eloise?" Minnie asked the owner to back her up.
Madame Eloise wasn't foolish to know which side she was supposed to take in this battle. "Miss Minnie is right."
Regina scoffed, finding Minnie's reasoning too funny. "Not looking to seduce anyone? Isn't that why you're dressing me up so much-"
Regina paused feeling Aurora grab her hand to stop her from continuing any further. Why? Aurora had a right to ask her questions.
"I understand Minnie," replied Aurora.
