the author wrote that the blue-eyed wolf removed her ear as she called it deposit two different times they took out her earpiece and the chip out of her hand already and then they rewrote that they took the ear deposit out again
Please read it a bit closely. At first, Janice gave Zyla two ear deposits and installed a chip with the assumption that if one fails to work, or was seen by the wolves, she would have extra. But the blue-eyed wolf saw and took both of the ear deposits and chip so that she won't be able to communicate with her fellow humans.
