The fire seemed to be growing and growing every passing second. The child could only listen to the fire alarms' rings constantly clinking against his ears. He felt numb in his place, not being able to move an inch away from his spot, even though he could feel the warmth from the flames slowly closing in on him.
Both the Privates were nowhere in sight. Was this it? Will burning to death finally kill the child and put him in eternal sleep? Samuel closed his eyes calmly, inviting the flames of death to engulf him within themselves.
Samuel suddenly felt an arm go around his waist, pulling him out of the room forcefully and hurriedly. Opening his eyes suddenly from the commotion, the child witnessed Private Joshua pulling him out of the flames that had almost taken over the dorm rooms.
