Chapter 14

“That day, he shoved me back first against the railing. He was more angry than normal, I don’t know why, but when he pushed me, my feet left the bridge.” His voice had a haunted tone, and Caspian took his hand.

“I was about to fall. My weight had shifted; my stomach lurched as I began to tip over.” He looked into Caspian’s eyes. “But you caught me. You grabbed my shoulder and made my feet land on the bridge again. If you hadn’t come right then, I’d be dead or at least broken. There was no water below, only rocks.”

Caspian wanted to object. His brother might be a bully, but a killer he was not. Only…He might not have meant to kill Flynn, but had he fallen over, he’d have cracked his skull. He wouldn’t have survived, and whether Blade had meant for it to happen or not, he’d have caused it.

Before he was aware of doing so, Caspian wrapped his arms around Flynn, leashes and dogs went everywhere, but he didn’t care.

“I’m so sorry.”
