“Hang on,” said Brad and rushed off.
Having finished the dishes, Ian pulled the plug out of the sink and wiped his hands on a tea towel. “I’ll get your drink.” He went to the cupboard and got a drinking glass.
Vaughan reached for it. “Don’t worry. Here, let me.”
Ian handed him the glass, then began drying the dishes while Vaughan found the orange juice and poured himself a drink.
“So, Ian, how did you meet Brad?”
There was a burst of voices at the door.
“We met in a club.”
“Zenith?”
Ian smiled and nodded. “Where else?”
Vaughan swallowed a mouthful of juice. “Ah, that hit the spot.”
At that moment, Brad returned with a young couple. “Jay and Martin, this is Ian. And Vaughan you already know.”
The two newcomers were both blonde and appeared to be around the same age as Ian, although the one with the beard looked a year or two older. He shook their hands and greeted them, while Brad set about pouring everyone a drink.
“Shall we go outside?”
