Danny dressed Robbie in briefs, soft blue jeans, a Henley with a plaid flannel shirt for warmth along with new boots and heavy socks. Gary brought up a down coat and a wool hat with leather gloves and a scarf. “Where did all of this come from?” Robbie asked Danny.
“The sub club went shopping yesterday afternoon while I was here with you. Everything is a little big because they figured you’d be putting on weight. They got a belt to hold up the pants. Oh, there’s a cable knit sweater in the bag. We’ll put that on too. It’s very cold outside. Tom got you the hat, gloves and scarf. Your other new things are home in your drawers.”
“How do I thank them for all of this?” Robbie was overwhelmed.
“Get your GED, take the job, start either a trade school or college, be our friend and have a good life. That’s all they want. That’s what Gary and I want for you too.” Danny gave Robbie a hug. “Now let’s get home so you can meet Leo and Widget.”
