“Because of the party, I don’t think anyone booked rooms tonight,” Jim said. “Bull keeps the appointment book for the rooms, so he would know better than I would but I don’t remember any requests.”
“He would know…wouldn’t he? I think I was snookered into coming here tonight. If there weren’t any bookings, he could have run me home.” Jamie’s face got red.
“Before you get angry; think about this. You could have asked anyone at this table to take you home or for that matter asked Bear to get Junior and you didn’t. Besides, with that nut still out there, you don’t want to be home alone.” Jim grabbed an onion ring.
“You’re right. I guess I’m as guilty as he is of hiding how I really feel. I didn’t approach him in a serious way. I flirted and flitted around him, no wonder he thought I was a twink; I acted like one,” Jamie said thinking out loud. “Sure, I can take pain, but it’s the twink-like behavior he was seeing and I played right into his fears.” Jamie took a nacho.
