“Zach, I need my life to start. I’m a twenty-two year-old virgin who’s never been on a date. I love Kitty. I could never give her up but I still want to finish school. I’m so tired. However, I have a responsibility to my sister. I have to keep pushing forward.”
“Maybe you do, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take a helping hand once in a while.”
Jason sighed. “When I played soccer, the game had to come first. But I wanted a life after the game was over so I took college seriously. I had a four point grade average.” He sighed again. “Things don’t always work out the way you plan.”
Zach didn’t know what to do. This was the first time he’d seen Jason down and vulnerable. He didn’t like it. He laid his head on Jason’s back giving him a whole body hug. “They willwork out, I promise,” Zach said and he meant it. The stairs squeaked and in came the whirling dervish. Zach sat up abruptly.
