“I’ll check up on Warren as discreetly as possible.”
Darby smiled at his mother. “Thanks, Mom. Something is wrong with him, but I have no idea what it may be.”
“You do know that Warren is the coroner at the police department, don’t you?”
Darby gasped softly and stared at his father. “No!”
“Well, he is. Maybe that’s the reason why he smells of a dead man’s blood, but I can’t figure out the magical part. Whatever it is, something isn’t right with him.”
“Shit! This whole thing may be even worse now.”
“That’s why you should move home with your father and me.”
Darby beamed at his mother. “I will.”
“Good. Your father and I will accompany you home later. Pack some clothes, and whatever else you need. It will be much safer for you to come home with us for the time being.”
“Inform your soul mates that they need to take extra precautions.”
“I will, Dad.”
