He’d been counting on the surprise and confusion of the FBI raid to slow her down, hoping it would buy him some time to explain his side of things to Danny. No chance of that now—she would already have every detail meticulously planned in advance. And getting Danny to renounce Evan would be high up on her “to-do” list. He shuddered thinking what her intentions might be regarding one suddenly superfluous bridegroom. And what she had mapped out for Danny’s future.

Looking up at Danny standing next to him, he silently willed his husband to choose their marriage over whatever Nessa had planned. But that was all he could do at this point. It was up to Danny now whether their union survived.
