“You have to ask him. He’s in charge.” Danny gestured towards Evan.
Evan assured her, “No, Katie, we will be there at the house tomorrow just as your mother wants.”
She pouted. “Well, I think it would be much more romantic if you whisked Danny away to some deserted island. Wouldn’t you rather skip all the hoopla tomorrow?”
“More than you know, Bug.”
Hearing an odd tone in Evan’s voice, Danny looked carefully at him. He was smiling, but his eyes were troubled.
Evan took Danny’s arm and urged him forward. “Come on, we have to greet the other guests.”
Danny mounted the two steps and grinned at the Ellis’s from the bed and breakfast. “Martha! Cliff! I can’t believe he got you here.”
Cliff offered his hand. “Congratulations, son, I hope you two will be happy.”
Then Martha pulled him into a hug. “Quite a persuasive young man you’re marrying, Danny. It’s very hard to say no to him.”
