4 A way out of this impasse

In the morning Elena felt someone's breath in her ears, stroking her hair with his chin. She was in Leandro's arms in their huge queen-sized bed when she shivered and opened her eyes. She shuddered at Leandro's curious and eager look. There was only an inch of distance between them. Leandro was about to kiss Elena. Elena immediately got out of bed and put on her dressing gown.

Shivering, she strode away from the bedroom. Leandro seemed to be looking at his lively wife with a happy smile. Elena went into the kitchen. It was obvious that her vein in her forehead was throbbing with blood pressure. Her entire neck was crimson. If her heart got stuck a little more, she could be knocked down by panicking. She clung to the kitchen counter and tried to breathe.

She filled a glass of water from the fountain with her trembling fingers. After drinking a little water, she sat down on the chair. She stared blankly for half an hour. She felt very hungry when she came to herself. It was as if she hadn't eaten for days. It was empty inside the fridge. She wore the jean and blouse she threw over the seat. She took her bag and went out.

After closing the outside door of the house, she went out into the street and looked towards the house. Leandro was waving from his bedroom window. Elena ran away. She arrived at a nearby dinner place and ordered something. After she had fed herself well, color began to come to her face. Elena could not understand what was happening. Who were these people? Why were these people in her life?

After the meal, she ordered a cup of coffee and her order came. She closed her eyes while drinking the coffee. When she woke up again a minute later, Lucas was in front of her. He was looking at herself with a warm smile. Elena asked loudly, unable to stand.

"Do you see the man in front of me?"

She was not answered by anyone. She clenched her teeth and asked again. But again there was no sound. Elena's eyes darkened.

When Elena woke up again, she was in a hospital bed. At the bedside was her mother and Dylan. Elena didn't want to make a voice. She was fed up. She hated everything. Her mother took Elena's hand. She cast a sad glance at her waking daughter. Elene, who saw her reflection in her mother's pupils, suddenly found herself 21 years ago.

A cold wind was blowing outside. The aspen leaves that the wind stirred were swaying with a melody. From time to time, clumps of dust were rising and flying for a few meters. Elena was dressed in a black cloak and robe with the help of her excited mother. She took her little basket made of pumpkin in one hand. Her mother had drawn her a big lip with a pink lipstick.

The doorbell rang several times. The neighbor's daughter, Anna, was nine years old. She was wearing a blue witch costume. Her mother wore black lipstick on her lips and black nail polish on her nails. Anna was waiting for Elena outside. Elena ran out of the house and took Anna's hand.

The two immediately rang the doorbell of the first neighbor's house. "Trick or treat?" the two girls shouted. Then they tried to laugh like a witch. They were actually quite fun, exciting and chirping. The neighbor smiled and gave them three sweets each. The two little girls immediately wished a good day and went back on the road.

Two seven-year-old boys appeared on the street. They were living at the far end of the street. They did not know each other because they were not very close, but the children came together with the influence of the costume and the tradition of the holiday. The name of one of the boy was Leandro. The other was named Lucas. Elena stared at the two children timidly and quietly. The two boys were joking around trying to spoil each other's hats.

Anna, being the eldest of the group, started to take them all around. They came in front of a house on the street. There was a huge pumpkin at this door. Inside were two glowing candles. Anna knocked on the door and it opened spontaneously.

The children unwittingly entered the garden and shouted "Trick or treat" together.

"Come in kids. I'm coming right now!"

The owner of the house was a young man. When the children heard the man's voice, they stepped inside. There were lots of different pumpkins and lots of cute ribbon gift boxes inside the house. There was a huge sugar tree. The children came to the hall of the house. Then the outer door closed. There was a slight breeze. All the lights went out and only the candles inside the pumpkins remained. Anna screamed. The boys were crying loudly. Elena stood back and hid behind the pumpkin in the corner.

A man in a black cloak and a pumpkin head came. He giggled like a witch and grabbed Anna. Then the pumpkin head opened its mouth and began to eat Anna alive. Anna's yelling stopped. Bone grinding sounds were heard. Leandro had pissed under him and his eyes were closed. He continued to cry loudly. Lucas, on the other hand, with Anna's blood splashed on his face, ran to one of the pumpkins and threw it at the man.

Laughing, the man threw Anna's half-eaten body to the ground. He jumped quickly onto Lucas. He killed Lucas. Then Leandro. After killing the children, after a while the man whose laughter turned into crying, then turned into dust. Suddenly, the whole building was as if it had not been used for years. Its walls were rubble. There were bodies of three children on the ground. Elena was crying quietly in a corner.

When they were found by the families, people couldn't believe what happened. The bodies of the traumatized Elena and other children were found in the abandoned building. The whole town was shocked. Elena had not been able to speak until the age of nine since then. Then she started to normalize. But 21 years later today, on Halloween day, she had a series of nightmares again.

While her mother stroking Elena's hand, Elena remembered Lucas smiling warmly and Leandro hugging her in bed. Tears were running from her eyes. She had spent last night in the abandoned ruin where they had that nightmare again. Where is the glamorous three-story house and its spacious garden?

Elena looked at her mother with a shiver. She couldn't say anything. Everything was knotted in her throat. Her boyfriend, Dylan, was looking at her with compassion. Something suddenly occurred to Elena. Samuel Wright. The neighbor who scammed people in her traumatized dream. This man's voice, his stance, everything reminded him of the spirit of that day. Elena's eyes shone seriously. She immediately got up from her bed.

"What are you doing Elena? Stop wait! The effect of sedatives has not passed."

"Sweetheart. The doctor told us to wait another day."

Elena looked at both of them with a smile. "I want you to trust me." These were the last words Elena said before leaving the hospital alone.

Elena quickly made her way to out of the emergency services. She hauled a taxi and headed back to that mansion. Elena was back in town. Outside, the gloomy sunlight was losing its power. The breeze of a cold wind continued. Seeing that it was getting dark, she was watching seriously out of her window in the car.

When she got to the town center, she got out of the taxi. She came to "Uncle Tom's Place", which sells hunting equipment. There was an old man on the counter when she came in. He left the newspaper he was reading in his hand and looked at Elena. Elena's eyes were tearing. Tears came from her eyes. The old man stood up, swallowing, and came to her side and hugged Elena. The two hugged each other and cried for a few minutes. Elena looked up into the old man's eyes.

"Uncle. I saw Lucas after 21 years. If he had lived, he would have been a very handsome and attractive man."

The man shivered a little and, looking at Elena, wheezed out his voice. "Too bad for you that you still haven't forgotten him, girl. There is a huge life ahead of you. You must live a beautiful life for the four of you. Not like that. No. It should not be like this."

Elena bit her lips and hugged the man again. Then she took a step back and took a deep breath and spoke her thoughts.

"Actually, uncle, I came here specifically. I came to town today because I learnt that the name and surname of a man I had never seen before, and the behavior and appearance of that witch who killed us that night. I did not know this person until the morning of today. You have to kill him for me. The souls of others will not be relieved unless he dies."

The old man's eyes looked focused at Elena.

"Isn't that a delusion? The effects of trauma or the effects of drugs?"

"No. I definitely know the killer. Also, his name, surname and who he is. My memories of that time just came to life. Give me a gun. You get a gun too. Let's go and show him that fuckin 'day. "

The old man shook his head negatively. Elena bent her knees and fell to the ground.

"For once in your life, won't you believe me? Can't you just trust me and not question? Don't you want to destroy your son's killer? It's your right. If you don't want to, give me a gun. I will do this alone."

After the old man swallowed a little, he turned back to his desk and pulled a gun from the drawer and handed it to Elena.

"Do you know how to use it?"

"No."

"This gun is an old-model Colt. There is no safety pin in this. I did its maintenance the other day. There are 6 bullets in it. Try not to miss."

"OK. Aw. It was very heavy! "

The old man saw Elena grab the gun and quickly go to that place. When he looked up, he could not see the ruin. It was as if the place was rebuilt and there was an imposing mansion inside. The old man's eyes sparkled.

"This ... This is amazing!"

The old man came in and grabbed a shotgun and ran after Elena. But when he left the shop, Elena was already in front of the mansion. Elena hid the gun behind her as she held one hand on the trigger of the gun. Then she moved towards the neighbor's house next door, not the flamboyant mansion opposite. The old man was moving towards Elena. Elena knocked on the neighbor's door without looking at him.

A few seconds later a man in his 50s opened the door. Seeing the man, Elena made sure. This was Samuel. He was 20 years older than she saw yesterday, but he was the same man. "Are you Samuel Wright?" Elena smiled and she asked.

The man nodded. Smiling, Elena pointed the gun at the man and fired the trigger. She shot the man in the chest. The man rose 2 meters and rolled on the ground. When the gun rebounded, it hit Elena's forehead and her eyebrow split. The old man was shocked when he came running over to them. Elena had shot Samuel.

The old man came before Samuel, ignoring Elena. The man's lips were trembling, and he was dying. The old man looked into Samuel's eyes and asked "Why did you do it? My son was just a young kid."

A small smile appeared on Samuel's lip "I- I don't -know- haa-how you fo-und it, but shhh-she wanted to kkkk-kill them. Do - I wouldn't do it, we all would die."

Samuel's eyes were open. When the old man hear what Samuel said, expressing 'her' with a female personal pronoun inevitably made him look at Elena. Elena pointed the gun again and shot the old man in the forehead. After wiping the fingerprints on the gun, she put the gun in the palm of the old man. "Of course, it's TRICK! I can eat the candies every day. Hmph."

Elena left the town briskly.

On the balcony of his studio apartment, Lucas was watching the moonlight illuminating the street with a beer in his hand.

"Ahh Elena. When will you find a way out of this impasse!"

Suddenly Elena appeared in the room. She climbed onto the balcony and hugged Lucas behind him.

"It is time for us to leave this land. Everyone connected with the incident was killed."

Lucas nodded after taking the last sip of his beer.

"I was bored too. Let's see what's in the other world? It's time for a little change."

In the roof of the opposite building, Anna and Leandro's spirits were looking towards the two. A moonlight reflected on each of the four, and they quickly rose towards the sky...
