Chapter 51- How We Met

The trees rustled as the cold wind blew past my robe. With limited light during the night, I stuck close to the person next to me.

“Are you cold, Heather?”

I shook my head. “No, my Lord.”

“It’ll take a few more hours before we cross the borders.”

I looked up at my Lord who was covered by the black robe. He was much taller and older, but he treated me as if I was an adult instead of a child. I must act maturely.

“Something is happening up ahead.”

I halted in my steps when my Lord held out his hand in front of me. In the night, I could see dark shadows up ahead. “Bandits?”

“Seems like it,” said my Lord.

“N-No! Ah! Help me!”

My ears perked up at the cries of a little girl. “My Lord.”

“Well, this is quite the problem. Should we help? Or let her be taken?” My Lord sounded amused.

I stood still and spoke calmly. “I’ll do whatever my Lord wishes.”

“Hmm, we do need a new holder soon. Maybe this experience could make her join our cause. Let’s take a closer look.”
