I've made it through 88 chapters, and it has been steadily progressing. The story is just average for me; initially, I anticipated an epic fanfiction vibe, but our main character appears to have a penchant for island hopping without clear reasons. This is somewhat understandable since it's One Piece. However, I wish there could be more to the story than gaining random devil fruits and abducting women—bro's on a charity spree. It feels like the plot occasionally loses its way due to this, and his Blackstar Pirates seem more like an orphanage to me. With younger girls in the crew, it gives off the impression of him grooming potential wives for himself. That, particularly, I don't hate, but I'm not a fan of the repetition of these actions.
Certainly, I've read it all, so there's a certain level of liking there. However, there's room for improvement. It exudes a slice-of-life feel, not exactly my cup of tea. It's lacking a bit in the excitement department lately, and the author could invest some extra effort into the storyline.
From the very first chapter, I anticipated a thrilling action novel, but alas, it turned out to be a bit of a bait-and-switch. Action scenes lack detail, and there's a noticeable absence of info dumps. While this might be good news for some, as someone who enjoys descriptive writing, it's a bit frustrating to survive on dialogues alone.
Best of luck—I'm hopeful that the story will evolve beyond its current slice-of-life vibe.
