Delaying The Inevitable

Even though Shiroi propped a wall of ice between them and the blob humanoid, it didn't stop the somewhat formless monster from flailing its gooey tentacles.

Before they knew it, the wall of ice had already been melted, and the blob humanoid resumed its advance.

"What are you doing here, you're not supposed to be here?" Plume asked as Shiroi grabbed her by the waist and dashed out of there by shooting ice from her soles.

"You too, shouldn't you be home by now?" Shiroi asked in a calm manner even though she was already seething in her head.

"But..." Plume was about to defend herself. Before she could do it, though, Shiroi cut her off despite being younger than her.

"You're too focused on your work. You should be at home with your family, relaxing on the sofa while drinking some after-work beer. Yet you're here, getting your rear side kicked by a weird-looking gooey blob from outer space." Shiroi went on and on until they got to a safe spot.
