Expedition

David was fully equipped with armor and a pouch filled with water and food. The village chief asked David for his suggestion, guessing that he already might have a plan the village chief looked at him.

David grabbed the sword on his waist and looked at him with determined eyes and said, "village chief please give me permission to search the forest and check if the village is safe or not?.

The village chief stood up from his chair with the support of his walking stick and walked back and forth while pondering. Although he wanted him to take some rest before this expedition, seeing David's resolve, the village chief knew that he had already made up his mind and would not stop even if the village chief himself stop him.

He saw David and saw his grandson who was eating his food without any worry. The village chief let out a big sigh and said, "Do as you please, I will not stop you, but on one condition?"

"What?" David asked.

"Take Trahso with you on your expedition." The moment the village chief utter those words his grandson choked.

Cough! Cough! Cough! Trahso(the village chief's grandson) coughed vigorously and said. "Cough..gran…grandpa I have some important work to do today, so I don't think I can go with him."

"All you do is only waste your time on useless things and because of that, your image got worse among the villagers. They are even objecting to the proposal of making you the next village chief. That's why at least do something useful for once so that your image could improve in people's eyes." He tried to make an excuse but hearing his grandpa he clenched his fist and cursed all the villagers and David in his mind.

"David, please take care of my foolish grandson." The village chief said.

"Don't worry, I will bring him back, even if I have to put my life on the line," David said.

The village chief chuckled hearing him, he grew up in front of him and he had always thought of him as his grandson too. 

After some time both David and Trahso headed towards the village gate, when they crossed the gate both of them encountered Leon, Galena, and Sam. It seemed that they already knew what David was planning to do, that's why they were waiting for him outside the village gate.

Both David and Trahso were dumbfounded, the most surprised one was David, he didn't know what was going on and how did they know about his expedition.

"Looks like we were right on the mark," Leon said.

"Tsk…But why is Trahso with him, I thought only three of us would go with him on this expedition." When sam saw him with David, he got dissatisfied and said.

"You guys, what are you doing here?" David asked equivocally.

"We knew that since your injuries got healed and all, you will try to do something reckless and there is also Catherine who knows you like the back of her hand. She knew beforehand that this would happen and asked for our help." Leon folded his arms across his chest and said.

"Sigh, I should have guessed it when she agreed that easily, since all of you are already here with your equipment then let's get going." David sad. 

David did not turn down their help as he knew taking them in the expedition would be a great help and after a short walk from the village, they entered the cursed forest of Azazel.

All of them turned serious and drew out their weapons as they didn't know what or when they encounter monsters.

"Now listen everyone, we are going to search only a small part of the forest because you know very well that there are many unknown monsters in the deeper part of this forest. So don't separate from the group no matter what." David said. Everyone nodded except Trahso.

"Wait a minute, who made you the leader? Did you forget that my grandfather the village chief ordered you to help me get some meritorious point so everyone can know how brave and might I am? That's why I'll be the one who will lead this team." he puffed out his chest proudly and said.

at first, he didn't want to come into this dangerous forest, but after seeing that Leon, Galena, and Sam joined him too and the fact that they were going to search only the outer part of the forest he became less wary.

Everyone looked at David hearing Trahso they somewhat got the idea what had happened and David explained to them everything, they sighed in relief, the more relieved one was Sam, he couldn't accept the idea of having Trahso as team leader.

Trahso only used his free time to flirt with girls all the time, greedy, good-for-nothing bastard and other bad rumors about him were going on among the villagers too. All in all, he was not suitable to become the next village chief.

That was why the village chief asked David to take Trahso with him on the expedition and kill one or two monsters, which will help him to gain some achievements to improve his image in the eyes of the villagers.

"Trahso, this is an important mission and only brought you because the village chief request him to help you, so you can improve your trashy image among the villagers. So don't try to act like you are the leader of this team, just stick with us and don't do anything foolish." Said Sam with a mocking tone.

Hearing Sam's mocking he became enraged and stepped forward to attack him with his sword but quickly back down seeing Leon was glaring at him with an icy stare.

He knew if he had ignored Leon's menacing stare and attacked Sam then he would have killed him without even blinking. After all, Leon didn't even consider the village chief than what position a person like him held in Leon's eyes.

Seeing that Leon solved the problem without even saying anything, David let out a big sigh of relief, he was worried that Trahso might do something reckless on this expedition but Leon's presence would keep him in check.
