CH76 (440), A Nice Break

Well, my month-long break started off pretty well, especially since right the next day, on Grouday, sometime before dinner, Manami/Lapras shared that she reached the (high) gold stage.

Arcday continued the trend with a surprise visit from Kinji. My bro showed up shortly after lunch and we talked about the stuff we had been doing lately. Mom insisted that he stayed for dinner and he ended up accepting. Before he left, I made sure to give him the Arbok undershirt I had commissioned for him.

He was quite surprised to get a gift out of nowhere, especially after hearing that it could take a few full-power attacks from a gold-stage Pokemon, before being damaged, which made it apparent that it was a C-Class item. I had to share the durability to ensure that he actually wore it since the extra protection was always welcome.

He tried to decline it at first but ended up accepting it when I told him that I had the extra materials at hand anyway and that he had helped me out quite a few times as well without asking for anything. I think my saying that it was a gift from bro to bro closed the deal for him.

I was wearing mine pretty much all the time since I picked it up, except when I was cleaning it. Mom and dad also wore it whenever they went out. They already had something made from a comparable material, but the one I commissioned had better workmanship, so they favored my gift. That it was a gift from me was probably also a factor, but I checked and my undershirt was truly a bit better, so that was okay. I did not end up unknowingly causing any harm.

Anyway, after Kinji got his Arbok-skin undershirt, only the 3 undershirts I had commissioned for the girls were left, but that was because I needed a proper reason to give them out. I had settled on them being graduation presents for Erza as well as Rose in preparation for their journey and practical year.

That obviously meant I had to give a gift to the others that were graduating as well such as Weiss, Ace, and Yu. It would be "unfair" otherwise, and I already knew what I was going to give them. A batch of handcrafted balls from Urahara/yours truly.

As for Jessica, hers would have to wait for a bit longer, but I did know how I was going to give it to her. I had actually first contemplated and then ultimately decided to hire Jessie as a nurse for my orphanage Pokemon farm project, and in general for my family.

Not only would that be something I could definitely see the orphanage and my "farm" needing, but it would also provide a steady stream of income for Jessie regardless of how her performer gig went. Besides, I knew she truly wanted to keep working as a nurse even if the performer side blew up, and this would allow her to do so.

That was also why I believed I could persuade her to accept the job. Even if she for some reason ended up declining I would still hire a nurse for the role anyway since the private nurse idea truly had merit. Nonetheless, there was still a year or so until everything was ready, so her undershirt would stay with me for a while unless another good opportunity presented itself before then.

During the rest of the week, I decided to meet up with as many of my friends as possible, and by the end of Grouday, I had seen all of them except for the ones that were off the continent. Well, I had a video call with them, so we saw each other, even if that was not the same as seeing them in person.

Then on Arcday the following week I got another surprise, but this time from one of my Pokemon. It had been about 24 months since he joined and Tyrogue finally ended up completing his limit-breaking. Though, saying finally, in this case, did not sound right.

Could Tyrogue have been faster taking his Perfectly Balanced talent into account? Absolutely. He could have finished a few months earlier if he solely focused on raising his parameters. However, we did not do that since funnily enough, that would not have been balanced.

Aside from the fact that focusing solely on his parameters would have become pretty dull, it would have also affected his combat effectiveness, since moves are obviously an important part of it. Due to that, I believed that the few extra months to be totally worth it, and Tyrogue agreed with me, which was why we did it the way we did.

Anyway, that evening I went inside Utopia and he went through with his breakthrough while everyone was watching. It was a pretty straightforward affair and none of us noticed anything extra. I went up to him as soon as the breakthrough was complete, and congratulated him. Togepi, Gible, as well as the others, were right on my heels and said their piece as well just a moment after I did.

While Togepi and Gible were asking Tyrogue all kinds of questions about how he was feeling, I chose to check his status screen.

Well, looking at his age and then his potential stirred all kinds of emotions in me. Tyrogue was just 4 years old and had deep purple potential. I knew that this was a wide world and that there were Pokemon out there that were actually born with deep purple potential, along with some miracle babies that were actually born with aurora potential.

However, I had not seen any of them yet, so I felt justified in feeling great at having a 4 years old Tyrogue with deep purple potential, especially considering that he had just broken through to the bronze stage. While I doubted I could bridge the missing 37is percent during his planned evolution to Hitmonform once he reached the (high) bronze stage, I knew he would have light aurora potential after reaching the silver stage.

If that was not incredible, I did not know what was. I mean, there was a very good chance that Tyrogue, or Hitmonform at that point, would be able to actually attain genuine aurora-grade potential after his breakthrough to the gold stage.

Well, enough about Tyrogue's possible glorious future potential. I had to focus back on the present. I moved on to see what else had changed, and looking at his affinity section, I saw that the "trace" aura affinity he/we had managed to cultivate just a few months ago had been upgraded to a proper "budding" one during his breakthrough to the bronze stage.

That was good news since that meant he could now hopefully unlock the aura manipulation mastery. Furthermore, it would definitely help him learn Aura Sphere, which was something we would probably start working on soonish.

Well, moving on from there, I looked at his parameter section and saw that he had made it to the (mid) bronze stage thanks to the starting bonus he received due to his limit breaking. That was pretty important due to the pretty low racial value the Tyrogue species had all across the board.

That was part of the reason it took him a while to finish his limit-breaking even with the help of his Perfectly Balanced talent. Well, the low initial species/racial value along with the side focus on his move pool were the main reasons, but there were a few more minor reasons, like having a life outside of training.

Anyway, Tyrogue starting from practically the lowest point of the (mid) bronze stage was not surprising, and still better than what he had to deal with during the iron stage. Besides, he would only have to endure it until the (high) bronze stage since Hitmonform had a much better base value set.

Regardless, there were no further changes caused by his breakthrough, so after sharing the good news with Tyrogue and the others we began his celebration straightaway. The rest of the week along with the next one was pretty calm. I spend time with my parents and Pokemon while keeping an eye on the Rattata project at night.

It was on Mewday of the final week of my vacation that something unusual happened. Well, it was not the most interesting news, but still pretty good news in my eyes since it concerned one of my Pokemon.

During a check-up, sometime after breakfast, I saw that Thor/Raichu had finished the second round of his limit breaking. Moreover, his agility was already at SSS value, so he only had to raise the rest as well, before he could break through to the gold stage.

I was definitely happy when I saw it and he was happy as well when I shared it with him. Learning that one's hard work paid off was always motivating, and I could definitely see that Thor was motivated.

Anyway, the week moved on and we made it to the last day of the month, Dialday. However, since the first two days of the new month ended up being Kyoday and Grouday, I stayed at home/Hope Town for an additional two days.

Nonetheless, after I made my way back to Pallet City on Grouday night, I checked the Ratatta of my orphanage project one last time, since I would once again be busy with the Eevee project starting tomorrow. By now the number of Rattata that qualified for the project had risen to 233, and out of those, 157 had gained an affinity. Even if only 15 of those 157 Pokemon had attained a full/standard affinity for now.

The 15 Rattata were spread somewhat evenly among the four types. The fire and electric types had 3 Rattata with a full affinity each. There were 4 Rattata with a complete water affinity, and 5 Rattata with a full grass affinity.

The reason none of them had evolved to Raticate yet, which had a pretty good chance of triggering the type variation I wanted, was that I remembered that the mass evolution that happened to the Gyarados minion horde had resulted in a slight potential increase in all of them, despite me not giving them any extra supplements.

I concluded that the increase was due to the energy that got drawn to them during their evolution. There was so much of it, that the density in that area got even denser, resulting in a slight increase in potential.

Since I was planning to use the Raticate to populate the variant farm I was planning, their potential was important enough for me to decide to wait until at least 8 Rattata had gained a standard affinity. Moreover, at least 4 of them had to be female before I let them evolve for "sustainability" sake.

In the meantime, I let them keep training so that they could reach the optimal evolution point, which was (high) bronze for Rattata. The reason for that was still the same, namely them acting as the root of my variant farm, so I wanted them to be in the best possible shape possible before then.

Well, aside from limit breaking, since that would take way too long and use up way too many supplements. I was already taking out a batch for their evolution to ensure that everything went perfect and to raise their potential in hopes of it helping due to the possible variant change, and I was not planning to go beyond that.
