The school is off for a couple of days to give the students a break from the big event, which Satoru appreciates. Not only does it give him time to play with his sister, it also gives him time to research.
Since he has obtained these memories or visions or whatever one could call them, Satoru sort of put them to the side for now since there's not going to be anything big for a little while.
Now that the first big event is coming up, Satoru doesn't know what else to do with that information besides to try and stop the problem himself and hope others follow him. He knows, so he should be able to fix it, right?
Well, at least prevent some damage. Satoru is confident in that fact.
Why?
Because Satoru isn't in any of his visions. He sees all his other classmates, but not once does he appear in them despite it coming from his memory apparently. He assumes that he doesn't exist in whatever that is. If he did, there would be different reactions to different things than what he is receiving.
Proof? There is one student that is in his vision that isn't in the class. He isn't a big deal considering he's…well, disgusting. However, it would make sense if Satoru replaced him. He even confirms this by looking up the name of the boy to find nothing.
So yeah, compared to the power that student had, Satoru can do so much more. He just needs to strategize a way to minimize damage without being suspicious.
With a plan in mind, Satoru returns to school only to be bombarded by his classmates as soon as he enters the classroom.
"Why did you immediately leave?! We were going to have a big celebration for you, and then we found out you left!"
"Yeah, you didn't give us any warning either!"
"It's kind of unmanly to just leave like that. You even had sensei worried."
"Oh yeah, he was pissed about it!" Isn't that a comforting thought for Satoru?
"Gojo, that was very unprofessional behavior, and I recommend you apologize to the entire class," That last comment, coming from Iida obviously, catches Satoru's attention.
Satoru turns his attention to find Iida strict as always, but he seems off. It's like the air around him is stifling. He knows why considering he knows everything at this point, but he didn't realize it was this bad.
Not that he can blame Iida. If he was in the same situation, he would do the same thing except win.
Satoru raises his hands innocently, "On my behalf, we were never told to stay afterwards!"
"It's an assumption, Gojo!"
"You know me, man. Assumptions and me don't get along!"
Iida just sighs and reports to his desk, not bothering to talk to Midoriya or Uraraka unlike usual.
Ashido whacks Satoru upside the head, earning a whine from him, "What gives?!"
"Can't you stay back and hang for one day?! We've been trying to get you to join us since the beginning of the year, yet you leave without realizing what you are doing!" Ashido explains.
Satoru shrugs, "I just want to spend as much time with my sister as possible before things take up more of my time."
.
.
.
"YOU HAVE A SISTER?!" All the loud students in the class scream.
Satoru tilts his head innocently, "Uh, yeah? A little sister."
Everyone looks so done with him.
The invisible girl that Satoru keeps forgetting exists asks, "How old is she?"
"She's five. Do you want to see?"
That immediately causes everyone to crowd around him as Satoru opens up his phone to show the lock screen of Shisuta and him smiling to the camera with peace signs. They awe at the adorable sight of the two.
"So cute!"
"They look so alike!"
"The smiles are so bright!"
Tsu interrupts the class spiel, "You seem to care about her very much, kero."
Satoru looks over at her and gives her a genuine smile, "Yeah. She's amazing. She deserves the world."
The girls in the classroom just awe more at Satoru's confession. Satoru takes that time to it in his seat.
"You know, ribbit, I never imagined you to be the protective brother type."
"What can I say? I have surprises in every corner just like where Aizawa-sensei is!"
"WHAT?!"
Everyone in the room scrambles to their seat. As Satoru said, Aizawa appears from the corner and goes to the podium. He swears Aizawa glare at him for an extra few seconds, but he just offers the man a smile.
Aizawa sighs, "Today, you will be taking your next big step as a hero: hero aliases. I'm not good at this, so I brought Midnight in to approve your names," As soon as Midnight busts in, Aizawa retreats to his corner to sleep.
Midnight takes the podium with much more enthusiasm, "As Aizawa said, you're going to be coming up with your hero names. They should represent what kind of person you want the public to see you as and what you want to be called. Keep in mind that these are temporary; however, they can become permanent, so please choose something you are willing to deal with for the rest of your life. Iida, can you pass out these whiteboard and markers please?"
Iida does as requested, and Satoru stares at the board in thought. Then, he writes down his name while he hears Aoyama's hero name being shortened in the background.
He hopes he never has to say that, but that is a mouthful to say here since it's a literal sentence. Imagine if Satoru has to called for him out of the field. He'll worry about it when the issue comes up. Right now, he has a name to present.
Satoru watches his classmates present their names on by one, most of them having no issues and rather creative names.
Then, Satoru comes up there and flips his board with a broad smile.
"Kid, that's your surname," Midnight points out.
"Uh-huh."
"Can I ask why?"
"I like how it sounds! Plus, I don't have to learn another name to go by!"
"I'll let it slide, but just keep in mind that you can change it at any time, alright?"
"I know, but I happen to like my surname!"
Midnight doesn't question him after that, and he returns to his seat. At this point, he doesn't pay attention since he remembers all their hero names. He just has to be careful not to call some of his classmates by their future names until the time comes.
When everyone finishes announcing their hero names, Aizawa shoos Midnight out of the room, "Now that you have that done, we can continue onto the important part. As most of you should be aware, after the Sports Festival, all first year students go on their first work study. The purpose of the Sports Festival is to demonstrate your abilities to those interested in taking a work study student. Here are the number of requests you got from hero agencies."
Aizawa presses a button, and the board behind him lights up. Starting from the bottom has some of the lesser-known students with only ten or so. It slowly increases until it reaches the top three where the number spikes up dramatically. In third is Bakugo with a couple thousand requests. Todoroki is in second with a couple thousand more.
Then, Satoru is on the top with over ten thousand requests.
"Wow, you can go anywhere you want in Japan, Gojo!" Kaminari points out and students around him agree.
He could, but he has a specific place in mind.
Aizawa pulls out a pile of papers after shutting off the projector, "Iida, Yaoyorozu, pass these out for me. I went ahead and limited the number of those with higher numbers to agencies that would be more beneficial to you. If you didn't get any requests, there's a list with hero agencies willing to take any hero student that you can choose from. Choose carefully. It should be a hero agency that will help you with what you want to work on. I will give you the rest of the class to discuss with others. I expect these to be filled out by the end of the week."
Aizawa doesn't add more to it as he goes back to his sleeping order.
Satoru immediately opens his packet and looks through it, ignoring the chattering around him. Satoru marks any agencies that are in Hosu, though he will only look at them if he doesn't find what he is looking for.
However, Satoru doesn't have to when he finds the hero he is looking for.
Native.
Native is a hero that is involved in a major incident, and if Satoru goes with him, he will be right there. It also makes his mission overall easier since he doesn't have to worry about sneaking pass the law of quirk use if he is doing it in front of his watcher anyway.
Satoru starts to fill out the papers for the work study, but that captures the attention of his surrounding classmates.
"Oh, Gojo! Did you already choose a hero?" Midoriya asks, who is sitting in front of him. He must have been looking around when he noticed him.
"Uh-huh," Satoru responds absentmindedly.
"That was fast! Who did you choose?"
"Native."
"Wait, really? I thought for sure you would go with someone more familiar or higher ranking."
"I never really cared for that stuff. I just want to save people, and Native is an alright guy for that. He's also in the city, and I need to practice there anyway. Learn how to limit damage." Satoru honestly doesn't know much about Native besides for the fact that he gets attacked. Heck, he doesn't even know his quirk! Maybe Satoru is limiting himself by going with Native, but he has to go.
Midoriya doesn't respond for a moment, seemingly confused, "You can't control the output of your quirk?"
"I can to some extent. If I open and close it up quickly, it will do what it did at the festival. However, I can't do less than that. I can only do more. I'm messing with world laws practically."
"I see. Maybe there's a support item that could limit the output of it?"
Satoru stops writing. That's a good idea to consider. He doesn't know if it's possible, but it is certainly worth a try.
Satoru starts writing again, "I'll speak with the support department about it. Thanks."
"Oh, no problem!"
Midoriya returns to his previous conversation, and Satoru finishes filling out the packet before the next teacher comes in
With the work study being next week, Satoru focuses even more on his training then usual. He needs to get faster at performing his moves, even if it is only a second faster. A second can possibly make a world of a difference.
Satoru also goes to the support department to discuss the possibility of limiting of his quirk. After a detailed explanation of how it works, most of them don't understand. Those who did ask more questions. In the end, Hatsume shoves everyone away and tells him that she will come up with something.
That's better than nothing.
Satoru also decides to make the wise decision of helping his classmates. Of course, he can't straight up tell them their future workout routine because not only does he not know all of them, but he also can't draw attention on himself. He spills subtle things to his classmates that he remembers. Nothing that will change their life, but something to push them in the right direction. Most importantly, he helps them in sparring and points out their flaws. Since it is clear his talent there, it wouldn't see odd for him to boss them around in that region of their training.
And, of course, he spends as much time with Shisuta as possible. It's less given his new routine, but Satoru would be an ass if he just ignores her suddenly.
Then, the start for their work studies arrives. Honestly, Satoru didn't know it was today until he checked his calendar.
Time flies by, huh?
Satoru and his class stand at the train system with their hero costume cases.
Aizawa stands in front of all of them, "Be on your best behavior. Remember that you can only wear your suits and use your quirks if you teacher is around, got it?"
"Yes, sir!" Everyone responds.
In the corner of his eye, Satoru sees Midoriya and Uraraka talking to Iida with worried looks. Since Ingenium has been attacked (Iida's brother), Iida hasn't been himself. He still acts like the class representative, but there's a certain dark aura surrounding him.
Satoru knows what the conversation is about, and he already knows it's going to happen anyway despite it. Iida is part of the reason he's going to Hosu.
The conversation is cut short when the train to Hosu arrives. Iida gives them a fake smile and approaches the train since the hero he is going to is there as well.
Satoru quickly joins his side, waving to his friends before getting on the train with Iida.
"I didn't realize you were going to Hosu, Gojo," Iida points out. They quickly find a place to chill together.
"Uh-huh! I need to practice in the city and figure out a way limit the damage I do to the surrounding area."
"That seems like a sound plan. I would have expected you to go with someone with a similar quirk to you like Present Mic."
"Maybe next time," Satoru is aware that it's probably never going to happen, though it's a good idea.
For the rest of the train ride, the two don't speak. They sit in silence until they arrive in the city.
Satoru and Iida step off the train.
"Which direction do you have to go, Gojo? We might be going in the same direction," Iida asks.
"I'm heading east," Satoru responds.
"Ah, I see. I guess this is where we will be parting then. I wish you luck with your work study, Gojo!"
"You too and be careful!" Maybe Satoru is slightly petty for saying that. He sees Iida's expression darken for a moment, but he snaps out of it.
"You be careful too. Stay out of trouble."
"Trouble is my middle name!"
Iida doesn't bother to respond to that as he weaves his way through the crowd to get to his location.
With a sigh, Satoru starts his own way as well.
