Chapter 42

Victoria swam hard and fast, scooping Caroline up in her arms and then shot back up to the surface like a dolphin.

"Victoria!" Sasha was yelling out when she resurfaced again.

"I got the girl, the human, I didn't see Es!" Victoria shouted out, not in any particular direction.

"We've got to save Es! I'm going under!" Sasha yelled out before taking a deep breath. Then in a moment all was quiet, Victoria did her best to keep Caroline's head above the surface, her heartbeat was faint but still thumping along. As she focused into the water below she heard another heartbeat, even fainter than the girl in her arms. Must be Joe she thought. she couldn't let him die, there was something special about him she thought. She didn't know what it was, maybe it was the white magic in his veins but the way she saw it, he was the key to all of this. She focused and pinpointed his exact location, then she put Caroline on a floating piece of debris and dove down after him.
