Boston, present day
Leaving Logan International Airport in their rental car, Katya felt like a stranger coming back to her hometown. She realized that aside for a couple of acquaintances at Waltham, she no longer knew anyone in Boston. Even the modern buildings along I-90 and bordering the Harbor made her feel alienated. It was when Cyrus maneuvered the car across Interstate 93 and onto Randolph Street that she felt more at home. They'd entered the older section of Boston.
As they approached Union Park, she felt an uneasy sensation in the pit of her stomach. She was drawn to the row houses on Upton Street. They had bow windows just like she saw in her dream from inside the house.
Cyrus parked the car and Katya couldn't wait to hurry to the homes on foot. Cyrus slipped on the ice but caught up with her as she stood before a particular unit, just right of center.
