Exiting the carriage, they walked up to the tower. It seemed taller here. They stepped up on the first stair and held both hands, facing each other.
"You ready, hearts?" he asked, looking into her pretty brown eyes.
She nodded, and Cyrus whispered his concentration points half to himself as he always had. They started to feel the familiar tingling, but then it just ended. They tried again, but nothing happened.
"This isn't good," Katya finally said. "I don't feel home. It's too far away."
"We better go back to the Tribune Building and post our message," Cyrus said. "We have to get it published before the fire. Even then, I don't know if it will survive for archiving."
