just a thought, but what if the evil ren that the author ren met, somewhere in some timeline, had used the monarch's indifference and is still under that? maybe the goal that he set just wasn't achieved up to this day that's why he's constantly under the influence of monarch indifference and therefore, can't take control of his own actions. Resulting to him being the 'evil' ren that the mc met?
