I’ve never been to this club before. Despite my own inclinations, my position makes it impossible to indulge in this kind of nightlife, at least in my hometown. And since I met Elizabeth, I’ve never had the urge to stray. And besides, it’s too risky for me these days.

If the paparazzi spotted me here….

There’s a certain amount of discussion at the door as to whether to let me in. As an unaccompanied male, my arrival is contentious. Fortunately, a party of young women arrives….

…. and the door-keeper decides that their numbers need balancing up with more single men. So, I am permitted entry.

There is no sign of Charlotte in the bar area, so I buy a drink and go exploring.

And despite my concerns, my reason for being here, I find I’m enjoying myself; intrigued….
