The only good choices are Ravenclaw and Slytherin. His current biggest wish is to get away from his grandfathers control. He can o that through either gaining a lot of political power or becoming a powerful wizard. Going to Slytherin would allow him to gain the connection, but could slow his progress with magic. It would also allow his grandfather to dig his nails deeper into him, as he has shown that he is cunning enough to get there. But if he choose Ravenclaw his standing would depend more on his grades an he'll also gain another source of knowlege. Also the Slytherin title bears a lot of bad reputation, which could hinder him, especially if he plans to interact with the main cast. My answer would be Ravenclaw.
