Eternal Thief System

After 12 hours of deep slumber,

Ace opened his heavy eyelids with some difficulty. He was still in a stupor because of yesterday's abrupt incident. However, the next moment, the pain faded.

Ace strangely felt refreshed for some unknown reason when that pain was gone.

Ace remembered what had happened yesterday; he was going to search for ways to make quick money when the sudden pain struck him, and he fainted after that.

'That was strange. Did the heavenly retribution come for blaspheming it?' Ace shook his head as he smiled wryly. 'Maybe it was from the stress. After all, I didn't sleep for days.'

Ace quickly got rid of that ridiculous notion because if biased Heaven were so openhanded even to punish him, this world wouldn't have any evil.

While assuming what had occurred, Ace caught the sight of his sleeping little sister, who was sound asleep in his embrace. Yet, her body was still icy cold. Ace's expression instantly clouded when he thought about One Ruby Coin he needed to earn as soon as possible for that pill.

He has some idea of where he should go to earn one ruby coin.

"I have to go outside the city for hunting!" mumbled Ace under his breath.

Ace was just about to get up from the rug when he heard a familiar yet unfamiliar, emotionless voice in his head.

"[Initialization Complete!]"

Ace was instantly appalled when he heard a lady's sweet yet static voice out of nowhere. He hurriedly searched around, but no one was there except Alina.

Ace held her firmly and kept searching his surroundings cautiously as if he were facing an enemy. But no matter how much he searched, no one was there.

Ace abruptly remembered why he felt a familiarity with that voice. It was the same voice he had heard before he lost consciousness.

'What is this voice, and where is it coming from? Does a Ghost haunt me?!'

When he thought of a ghost, he became pale with fright.

Ace has heard plenty of stories about ghosts and evil spirits from the restaurant owner where he works.

The old restaurant owner always told his grandson stories about ghosts, like once a spirit possessed a kid and then ate his soul.

Ace had always heard these kinds of stories with great interest, and now he was terrified of ghosts and evil spirits.

He was going to chant some prayers that he had once heard from the Old Restaurant Owner when the emotionless voice buzzed in his head again.

=====

[Congratulations, the Eternal Thief System has selected you (Ace White) as a Host!]

=====

"What in the hell??!" He was going to swear out loud but was forced to stop himself because he was holding Alina in his arms and didn't want to startle her.

Ace immediately chanted the old owner's prayers in his head like crazy, 'o gidieli dkkdiek dkiel.'

Even though he didn't know what these words meant, he heard the old restaurant owner say when you see a ghost, chant them, and the spirit will be gone forever.

Ace didn't hear the voice for ten seconds and thought that the restaurant owner's chants were working. He became a little smug and was just about to celebrate his grand victory against the lady ghost when the lady's voice sounded again in his head.

=====

[Current Host Privilege is at Level 0. The details about 'Level 0 Privilege' are about to transfer into the host brain!]

[Transfer Begin! Please brace yourself, host.]

=====

This time, the voice didn't sound emotionless as before. Instead, it sounded like it was chuckling at Ace's simplicity.

Ace was scared out of his wits after hearing this 'ghost lady voice' again and was just about to run from the hut with Alina in his arms when abruptly he felt something drilling into his brain.

Ace instantly clutched his head because of intense pain. Yet, he didn't scream because Alina was still close to him.

Even in this intense pain, he was still thinking about her well-being. Ace's teeth were clenched tightly. This pain was just like yesterday's, but it wasn't intolerable this time.

After ten seconds, the pain was subjugated and finally faded.

Ace regained his senses again. He didn't care about anything because this was his only chance to escape. He stood up with some difficulty, but his expression was determined. Furthermore, he was determined to take his little sister out of this 'ghost house' to safety, no matter what.

Ace's heavy steps suddenly halted when he felt something foreign in his brain, and the moment his focus was shifted to that foreign part, it converted into strange memories.

Ace was very confused about this sudden turn of events. 'Didn't ghosts supposed to eat souls and possess the bodies?'

When those foreign memories settled, he discovered he could easily remember everything without forgetting a single word.

Ace didn't know why he tapped into those memories, but a voice deep inside kept telling him to see what it was, and when he did, he was startled at first before he became astonished, and his astonishment turned into hysteria.

Ace was so shocked that he nearly forgot about his worries and his ill Little Sister, who was still in his embrace.

After some time, he finally regained his senses, but his wildly beating heart was on the verge of exploding.

Ace glanced around his surroundings fiercely as if he were confirming something. Then, after ensuring that there was no one in or outside the hut, he finally relaxed.

But no matter what he did, he couldn't calm down at all as ecstasy filled his heart!

Ace didn't dare to believe in those absurd memories, but deep down, he wanted to confirm and honestly wished that all of it was real. That's why he first checked his surroundings because if these memories were real, he didn't dare to imagine what he would do.

Ace took a deep, cold breath and said in a low voice, "Status!"

When he said that word, something unimaginable yet magical happened; a transparent black block began to materialize in front of Ace's eyes. Soon, it was completed!

It was translucent black in color, but there were strange silver markings imprinted on its edges like a frame, and on top of that black translucent screen were engraved dark blue markings glowing in golden color. The black block was called a 'System Interface or Panel.'

As for those markings, they were a language that was foreign to this world, the 'Ancient Language of Gods or Ancient God Language!'

Probably, only Ace can read or understand it in this world because he learned it with his Level 0 privileges memories. If he wants, he can even speak fluently as if it was his mother tongue!

After witnessing that the status thing was real, Ace felt extreme joy and immense relief. If it weren't for his sister and worried about his surroundings, he would've laughed like a maniac.

He calms down. But there were tears of delight in his eyes as he read the status.

=====

When Ace read his status, it stunned him because there were so many details. Then he looked in the top right corner of the main panel. There was a silver symbol that was glowing. It looks like a dark hood. It was his status panel symbol.

Then his focus turned to the 3rd column of his status, and he was extremely confused by the word '1st Heaven'.

'Are there more heavens?' He wondered.

Ace couldn't help but think he was just a frog in the well. He had never even gone outside the River Flower City, and now he had suddenly learned the grand name of Heaven itself. It was a unique feeling.

Looking at his other status columns, he saw his Cultivation Status and smiled bitterly. He was just a mortal.

When he saw Experience Points and Soul Points, he was confused.

"What are these EXP and SP for?" Ace transmitted his voice in his mind. This was also a method to communicate with the System he found in memories.

"[EXP and SP are amounts of Qi required for the host to reach the next level of cultivation path.]"

Ace wasn't afraid of this static voice anymore because he was the master of this treasure called System. However, what kind of treasure it was, he does not know. But this system knows Heaven's name, so it must be impressive!

'This system treasure is not from this world!' This was his conclusion.

"How do I collect this EXP and SP then?" asked Ace.

The system answered again, but it was different this time.

"[Host has to find out by himself.]"

The answer left Ace speechless. He pursed his lips and asked a different question, this time after some thinking, "Then what are Thief Points (TP)?"

This was the only status that was not 0; he even had 15 of them. He was thrilled about this, but there was a 'thief' word in it, and he felt uneasy for some reason.

"[Thief Points are the currency of the System. The host can earn Thief Points (TP) after every successful, Honorable Thievery and use them to buy system items.]"

'What does it mean by Honorable Thievery? Do you want me to become a Thief, and since when did robing someone become Honorable? Do you break yourself?' berated Ace while cringing.

He was 12 years old and poor, but he had never done anything immoral like stealing. So now, this 'Treasure' was telling him to steal, and it even dares to say it's 'Honorable.' He nearly went frantic.

"[Host, please carefully read the name of System.]"

It simply retorted, giving no further explanation.

Now that Ace was calm, he focused on the translucent black panel's top center. There were written only words In Dark Blue Color with a golden sheen,

"Eternal Thief System."

Those words were extremely dominant, and some kind of power was hidden in them.

When Ace read the full name of this System Treasure, there was also 'Thief' in there. So he scratched his eyes and saw it again, making sure he didn't make any mistake, but no matter how many times he saw it, there was still a 'Thief' there.

Ace's happiness of obtaining a supreme treasure was instantly gone in smoke, and his eyes spasmed. Because he knew he was in some enormous trouble...!
