CHAPTER 36
Bella fell on her scraped and bleeding knees for what seemed like the hundredth time. Somehow, Danny had found the endurance to keep picking her right back up again. The foreboding vibes spearing the air suggested that they would vanish altogether if they let their guard down for even a moment. He knew they had to push on.
Suddenly Danny tripped over a protruding tree root and fell face-first. Scrambling to his knees, he punched fistfuls of dirt into the soft earth, cursing under his breath. He hated this. He was either not strong enough, or he kept making mistakes. Stupidly tripping fell under the last category.
“Dan.” He turned at the sound of Bella’s wobbly voice. She was squeezing her stomach, probably feeling the same overwhelming nausea as he was. “Are you hurt?”
