Chapter 40

"So you don't know if dads dead or not?" I asked

"I'm pretty sure he is." Mom said

"What if he's not." I say

"Are you proposing a theory." She asks

"I'm just sayings that the man may have kept him alive or maybe dad escaped." I say

"I don't know Hun, maybe you should call you friends and tell 'em your back." She smiled

"Okay love you." I say

I hugged her and got up. I walked up the stairs and into Julian's room. I stood in the doorway for awhile until I finally caught his attention.

"Your back!" He shouts

He jumped off his bed and gave me a hug.

"What's this for?" I ask

"Lola was being so annoying... She was constantly complaining thank God your back!" He said

He took his arms off me and kept them at his side. He looked sad.

"I'm sorry Julian." I sigh

"For what? It's your sister who died." He said as a tear fell down his cheek

"Having to be there, and finding her had to be hard." I say

He hugged me again. He coughed and cried. I held him in my arms. I knew Lola would be jealous but he's pretty sad and he's technically like a brother to me.

"Your mom doesn't even look at me the same anymore." He finally said

"Why?" I ask

"I don't know." He shrugged, "I try talking to her but it's like talking to a wall."

"Thanks for watching over her while I was gone." I say

He let go of me and sat on his bed.

"Jackson is the one you should be thanking, him and Finn where the ones who visited." Julian said

"But you where still here, thank you." I say

"Anytime." He smiled

"I'm gonna go to Lola's you wanna come?" I ask

"Sure." He said

He followed me downstairs. We got our shoes on and walked to Lola's house.

"I still haven't told mom about my car." I said to Julian

"What do you mean?" He asked

"I was in a crash." I say

"Why did you leave it?" He asked

"I didn't know what to do, also what was I going to do with a totaled car?" I ask

"I don't know call a tow truck." He says

"Who in their right mind would tow a car from California to Kentucky?" I ask

"I don't know! A good person." He said

"No, your delusional." I say

We walked up Lola's driveway and went through the garage. Julian took out a key from his pocket.

"You've got a key?" I ask with an eyebrow up

"Yeah... Hey not like that... At least not yet." He said

"Better not be, brother or not I will kill you." I say

"We're not even related." He said

"What I meant by that is your kinda like a brother to me." I say

He opens the door.

"Stay here." He says

"Okay." I say confused

I wait for a couple of minutes. I get bored so I listen to what Lola and Julian are saying.

"Okay." Lola said

"We are going to the movies, the three of us." Julian said

"Three?" She asked

"I invited a friend from California." He said

"Who?" She asked

"Come on I'm pretty sure you'll know who it is, can you hurry up?" He asked impatiently

"I'm sorry I don't wanna look like shit in public." She said

"I think your pretty without your make up on, can we go?" He asked

"Let me at least finish my eyeliner!" She said

Couple more minutes passed.

"Okay, I'm done." She said

"Finally!" He shouted

I could hear Lola turn the door knob. I walked over to the cabinet and leaned against, as casually as I could.

At first she didn't notice me. I turned my face and then she noticed it was me.

"Your back! Where the hell where you? Oh my gosh I'm sorry! But why weren't you here?" She asked

"Chill, I just needed sometime to think." I say

"Don't ever do that to me again!" Lola says

"I won't." I say

We all get into Lola's car and Julian drives us to the movies. We get out of the car and walk into the building.

"Three tickets to see the movie in theater 7 please." Julian asked

"Sure." Said the girl behind the counter

Julian paid for our tickets and we walked into theater 7. We sat down and watched some of the commercials. Not a lot of people came in since the movie had been out for a while.

There where six people in here besides Lola, Julian, and I. There was a couple to the right and then four ahead of us. A group of friends or maybe a double date. Then the seventh person walked in. They came down left aisle. They looked over at me and sat down next to me.

I looked over, Jackson.

Lola that clever bitch... Or maybe Julian did either way I love those two!

He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me closer. He kissed me. It wasn't just some peck on the lips that he did before classes this was a "where the hell were you I was so worried, but I don't care as long as your safe." Kind of kiss. He rested his forehead on mine. I smiled.

"I missed you too." I smiled

"You can't do that to me! I thought you'd never come back." He whispered

"I wouldn't do that to you, and it seems like you had faith I'd come back... I talked to my mom." I said

"I know, but still I was going nuts... Just ask Finn." Jackson said

"I'm sorry." I say

"I'm just glad your back, school starts back up soon... You know that right?" He asked

"How soon is that?" I ask

"Two weeks from now." He said

"Really that's soon?" I asked in shock

"Yeah, Finn missed you." Jackson laughed

"Why?" I asked

"He said I was too whiney without you here." He folded his arms

I laughed. I wasn't even paying any attention to the movie. Lola and Julian held hands, and where paying attention. Jackson and I just talked and caught up.
