Chapter 44: Nightmares

She stood, confused, the darkness surrounding her. Frantic, she spun, searching for light until she lost her balance and fell to her knees. She couldn't see anything, but she knew she needed to keep searching.

She needed to find a way out.

Fast.

He'd be back. Evil assholes like him always came back. She'd be waiting. This time, he wasn't going to surprise her.

Tears burned her eyes, her heart pounded fiercely in her chest, but she kept on. The floor seemed to never end. She couldn't find the door, and there wasn't a single piece of furniture. There was nothing but wood floors and walls. She slid her hands along the walls, feeling for the crack of a door frame or window but couldn't find one. The room was a giant box.

It's no use. There's no way out. She curled up into a ball on the floor, determined to wait.
