Blue flashlights. Sirens. Pain. What happened to me? Where is Demi? Where are my brothers? Am I dead??
Hannah is 19 year old and has two brothers called Luke and Harry. Yep they're both famous and joined both different bands. But hey her brothers weren't the only famous ones in their household. Hannah was one of Australia's best musical actress in her age category.
Hannah was just getting her bike out of the shelter in order to make it to volleyball practice on time when all of the sudden Luke called her from the living room. "Hey Hannah," he called "Harry and I need to go to the story and since that's on the road to the sports hall we'll bring you this time." Hannah looked at him as if she saw water burn. Luke has never ever insisted to bring her but hey what could go wrong. But only is she knew.
Harry was already positioned in the car and ready to leave.
"Hey Harry could we maybe pick Demi up on our way to practice," Hannah asked when she hopped into the backseat. Harry simply replied with a small nod and drove off when Luke hopped into his car seat as well.
The drive was about 10 minutes but had so many traffic-lights on the way and if they were all red the whole road you could easily be 30 minutes on your way.
The drive had been noisy by singing songs and was so much fun none of them thought that the inevitable could happen any time soon.
When Harry wanted to pull up on the road again because their traffic-light turned green, a car from the other side came bumping in theirs with full speed. The last thing all of them heard was the heartbreaking scream of fear from Hannah.
"ARE YOU ALL ALRIGHT!" Luke screamed through the car. When he looked on his left hand he saw Harry covered in blood but slowly regaining consciousness. And in the back seat he saw Demi in a terrible shock and when he looked next to her he knew exactly why. His younger sister looked completely disfigured in her seatbelt and that's when his paramedic mode started. He laid a finger on her neck and felt a weak pulse but she would make it just in time when he would first focus on Demi and Harry.
"Alright Demi," Luke spoke softly, "I want you to open your door and sit on the road so you could do no harm to yourself. Are you hurt anywhere?" Luke saw a big head wound but wasn't too concerned about neck injuries since she was still able to move everything and hadn't complained about it.
Demi slowly shakes her head, not keeping her eyes of her best friend.
"Alright Demi, I need you to listen to my voice am I clear?" Luke asked. Demi looked at him completely panicked. "You're going to be alright but I want you to sit on the road and see if theirs someone around. Ask them to call an ambulance." Demi nodded and went out to search for people who were able to call the ambulance.
Luke could now fully focus on his sister while Harry slowly began to come around.
"Luke what happens?" he asked looking confused. "Alright Harry, we had a car crash so I want you to look at me so I can examine your wounds alright?"
Harry turned his head towards his younger brother and you could see panic and guilt filling his eyes.
"Harry," Luke started, "before I'm going to examine you further I want you to know that's not your fault oke."
Harry nodded his head at him not trusting his voice since he was partly going on a mental breakdown.
"Alright Harry as I can see by now you've probably broken your shin and dislocated his shoulder. Your face is covered in glass so I want you not to touch it at any time oke?" Harry nodded. "I'll come over to you and help you out of the car so that I've more excess to help Hannah." Once these words left Luke's mouth, Harry quickly turned around to see his sister laying there completely unconscious and completely disfigured.
"Luke?" Harry slowly asked, "do you think she's going to make it?" Tears were welling up in his eyes and even Luke got teardrops falling on his cheeks.
"I don't know yet but she's a little fighter so she will get through this oke?"
Harry thrusted his brother fully in this since Luke was medically trained and Harry just wasn't. Harry just was a simple receptionist at the clinic his brother worked with his bandmates and with the bandmates of Harry.
"So what do you want?," Luke questioned his brother, "stay in the car or rather wait outside since this could be turning pretty nasty." Like informes his brother because in the worst case scenario he had to preform CPR on his sister.
"Hey Hannah I know you're hurt but you have to open your eyes love," Luke said while he carefully crawled into the backseat. On forehand he had opened the door on her side and got in via the other side.
Luke was busy checking her vitals when all of the sudden a familiar voice asked: "Sir, I'm a medic of duty so let me help you."
Luke looked over his shoulder to see his bandmates and colleagues Ashton and Calum. "Holy shit Luke what happened," Calum exclaimed when he looked passed Luke and saw Hannah not in the best state possible.
"Luke let me and Calum handle this, you take care of your brother while I call Micheal to come here," Ashton softly spoke because he perfectly knew Luke just wasn't in the right state of mind of handeling this.
He knew Hannah should be in good hands by Ashton since he's the head of the ER unit.
"Luke," Calum said, "I need to examine you as well if that's oke with you." Luke wanted to refuse because he was feeling fine, but hold on a sec was he? Luke looked at Calum and slowly nodded.
They decided to sit against the car so that when Ashton needed Calum he would be standing next to his side in a split second.
"Alright Luke you know the procedure. I'm going to examine you on potential injuries." Luke simply nodded.
"Calum is the ambulance already called?" Luke asked his best mate. Calum made a simple agreeing sound since he was soo focused on Luke.
All of the sudden the three of them heard a familiar scream for their names. It was Micheal you had just came running down the corner.
"Holy shit what happened here!" he screamed when he looked at the scene. "I know Micheal," Calum started, "can you see how's Harry and the girl are doing?" Luke interrupted by saying that here name was Demi.
Micheal already left of where his bandmates brother laid and a certain Demi.
"CALUM!" Ashton screamed from the backseat. Calum was already on his feet's and saw that Hannah was having a severe seizure.
"They've to hurry up because she isn't going to make it like this," Ashton whispered in Calum's ear and makes sure Luke doesn't hear that.
After having said that they could hear in a distance a sound of sirens.
Not long after that two ambulances pulled up.
Out the first ambulance jumped Niall, together with Luke the paramedics of the clinic. Out of the second one jumped Liam, the only trauma doctor on duty today and Louis who most of the time is a nurse but this time drove the ambulance.
"LIAM I NEED YOU HERE ASAP!" Ashton yelled at his colleague once he saw him jumping out of the vehicle.
Calum made room so that Liam and Ashton could work on Hannah.
"Holy shit," Liam cursed under his breath when he saw Hannah quite hanging in her seatbelt because Ashton is afraid she might have a spinal break.
"Ashton she doesn't look good at all, see needs to be transported to the hospital as quick as possible because I've no idea how long she can survive out here." Ashton nodded in agreement to the statement from Liam.
"Li, I'm going to look for a sec outside to see how far the others are and maybe they can transport them already to hospital," Ashton suggested. Liam nodded and got his focus back on Hannah who progressively got worse.
Ashton already went outside and saw Niall, Calum, Micheal and Louis hanging over Luke, Harry and Demi. "Niall come here for a sec," Ashton waved the blond over. Niall made his way to Ashton. "I want you to stay here since you actually are capable of driving an ambulance at full speed. I want the other ones to go with the the other three to the hospital as quick as possible. Can you tell them that?" Niall nodded and ran back to tell Micheal, Calum and Louis what I just told him.
I saw that Luke was barely conscious and Harry's leg was just hanging there. Ashton quickly made his way back to the car where Liam was still busy with Hannah.
When he walked to wards the car he heard odd counting which made his pace go quicker. When he saw Liam, Hannah was till hanging in her seatbelt, preforming CPR on her.
"Alright only Niall stays because he can drive with extreme speed and pressure. You need help laying her down so CPR gets better?" Ashton asked. Liam looked at him and had even no idea himself. "Yeah support her neck and her upper back so it doesn't move a bit. I also called the fireman in order to cut the doors so we can transport her easily," Liam said while still performing CPR on Hannah. Ashton unbuckled her seatbelt and kept her steady. He slowly grabbed her neck to make sure that wasn't moving at all and no anymore damage could be done. Ashton carefully shifted her on her back but both of them perfectly knew that she wasn't going to survive much longer in this car.
Niall also had made his way to the car and asked if he could do something.
" Yeah mate," Liam said, who stopped performing CPR since she was getting back her pulse, "if you could get a monitor, neck brace, gurney and a spinal board that would be great." Niall nodded and went to get the things.
In the main time the firefighters had turned up. Liam made room for them to cut off the door on his side, meanwhile Ashton was instructed to stay in the car to make sure she didn't move around and do more damage to either her spine or neck.
Ashton was given a blanket where he covers himself and Hannah's head with.
It took almost 3 minutes to cut the door off Harry's car but now there was enough room to install the spinal board and rush her to the hospital.
Niall passed Ashton the neck brace so he had his hands free to help Liam with getting her on a spinal board.
"Alright on my count," Ashton said taking the lead which was quite controversial but both of them wanted to get her out of this because she could survive any longer, "3..2..1.." And with that Liam and and Ashton places her carefully on her side and at the same time Niall had shoved the spinal board behind her back. "Alright let's lay her down and get her out of her quick," Liam said relieved.
Once the got her back on the spinal board they shove it out of the car and put her quickly on a gurney. They pasted quick a few plasters in her so they could check her vitals. Her pulse was weak and her oxygen level was low. Ashton got out of the car as well and rushed the gurney towards the ambulance. Also Niall sprinted towards the driving seat and stepped hard on the gas pedal when both were in.
The drive usually would take them 6-7 minutes since their clinic is at the other end of Sydney.
2 minutes on the way Hannah her vitals and pulse were dropping drastically. Liam decided to bag her with oxygen in the hope that would bring her pulse back up but that didn't happen so Ashton decided he was the one who had to do CPR this time. He got on top of her bed making sure not to move her because preforming CPR on someone with a possible spinal injury is the worst that you can do at any time.
"NIALL HURRY WE'RE LOSING HER," Liam yelled from the back of the ambulance. And with that Niall has placed his foot harder on the gas pedal.
"Alright. 19 year old girl. Unconscious at the scene, possible spinal and neck injury. 50cc off morphine on the way. Got second heart arrested on the way." Liam screamed at the trauma team who had gathered around. Ashton was still preforming CPR when all of the sudden the monitor indicated a pulse.
Ashton and Liam worked the whole night on her to keep her alive.
It turned out she had broken her back and could never walk again. She's even lucky that she survive because a normal person would survive that type of neck injury which cause her to be paralizad as well from the waist down.
It's 5 weeks later from when the car crash happened and Hannah still laid in coma. Her brothers were sitting by her side and weren't letting go of that. Ashton also had fallen asleep with his head on her bed when all of the time Hannah her monitor started to act up. Also Ashton and Luke shot up.
Hannah slowly opened her eyes. They all sighed in relieve and cries in excitement.
