Chapter 1: Where are the bananas?
"Look what I've found, sister!" Michu shouted with the box in his hands! He held it above his head with a dangerously infectious smile.
But this kind of smile was often regarded as annoying and stupid for new people.
His sister, however, always smiled whenever she heard him in such an excited state.
She turned her eyes to him, then nearly lost those.
Looking at the box, her eyes threatened to fall from the shock, "It's too big! What are you doing, big brother?!" If this box fell onto his head, then they would need to go to the hospital!
And hospital bills.. were scary! "So scary, you know?!" She shouted out loudly and made Michu put down the box onto the wooden floor.
The floor cracked as if screaming from the burden.
"What's in the box?" Michu's sister, Nana, asked after looking over his body. Though she was sixteen years old and younger than her brother, Nana was more careful and mature than him already.
She first checked her brother, then looked at the box.
"Hehe, this is VR GAME!" Michu yet again shouted, but this time he could rub his nose. He often did that when he felt excited or just happy.
The VR Game wasn't a foreign term for the younger sister, but she instantly paled, "This should cost… a lot… You are a student, big brother! You can't afford it! And if you could, then you should've bought food for us!"
"I know, sister! But I got this for free!" Michu put his hands on his hips and raised his head high.
He then began his story from today.
-
[Two hours earlier.]
Going back from the school, Michu met with the old lady from the bazaar. She gave him free bananas that he loved, "Thank you, grandma! Call me when you need help! Hehe!" Eating the banana, Michu immediately forgot about all his worries and became a little mischievous.
Instead of putting the peeled skin into the bin, Michu just threw it onto the ground!
A few seconds later, the sound of someone screaming could be heard.
This person was a man in his early twenties, kitted out in a suit. His appearance just reeked off with the prestige and money, so Michu froze and looked at him with jealousy.
"How many bananas could I buy?" Michu mumbled to himself, but the man didn't stop.
Once he stumbled, his loss of balance continued to last until he bumped into Michu.
Both of them fell onto the ground, but Michu was the one to hit the ground and mitigate the losses for the man.
Other than the loss of face, the man didn't lose anything else. His clothes were fine and so his body and hair.
But Michu's school uniform got dirty and he hit the ground with his head.
"Oh my god!" Seeing this, the man exclaimed in horror, then extended his hands to help Michu.
But the eighteen years old student just laughed, "It's okay! I have a strong head! Sis says I have nothing to worry about here! Hehe!" Michu was all fine!
The man introduced himself, "I am Yumikazu Kyotaro! I can't let you just leave after saving my face! Look around." Yumikazu Kyotaro pushed his glasses and pointed with his eyes at the vicinity.
Some people were already talking about him, so he must be a big shot!
Michu didn't think much about it, though, "You stupid? I didn't save your face, but your body and clothes too! Anyway, it's nothing much! Something good should happen later because of this!" Michu shouted.
But this was what Kyotaro had been waiting for, "Exactly. It's karma, young man. So what do you want? I will give you anything you want for this deed."
"Anything?" Michu asked quietly. It hit somewhat differently as from the beginning Michu had been pretty loud. But he instantly broke that image as he pursed his lips and rubbed these with his fingers as if he was a monkey.
He then said, "VR GAME!"
"VR Game? Wise choice," Kyotaro nodded, his glasses reflecting Michu's excited face.
The young man couldn't contain his excitement, "We are too poor to have a computer, but we will be able to play VR GAME! Yeah! You can fulfill your dreams here, right? Haha! I will be the monkey god!"
"Hmm?" Kyotaro didn't miss these words, "You don't have a computer, so you don't have the internet either… What about electricity? You…"
"Electricity?" Michu tilted his head.
"If there is night, do you turn lights on or-" Kyotaro got interrupted.
Michu replied, "We have candles!"
"I see…" Kyotaro took out his phone, then made a call. A few minutes later, a huge track drifted its way to them. It parked close to the noble and made him seem even cooler as the wind pushed his hair up.
The person who drove it seemed particularly close to Kyotaro. It was a lady just two years older than Michu. Once she left the truck, she snapped at him, but Michu wasn't thinking much about them.
He didn't listen as it would be rude to eavesdrop on others!
"Hey, you…" Kyotaro called after he calmed down his sister, "We can drive the VR Capsule to your house. Show us the way," He said, but Michu shook his head.
He put his hands on his hips and declared, "I can't bring unknown people to my house! It's dangerous!" Those were his sister's words.
Michu just put on a proud smile as if he was doing something righteous.
The lady next to Kyotaro uttered, "What is this idiot? I can't believe there are people like him nowadays…"
But Kyotaro coughed and ignored her, "Surely, you can tell me your address then? I have to pay for your electricity, bring you guys to set up the internet and some stuff. You will be able to play the game without any problems and get rid of poverty."
"Address? Sure," Michu didn't seem to mind telling the address.
Both Kyotaro and his sister looked at him with dead eyes.
Michu then told them, "I can bring a capsule to my house! No need to help me! Hehe!"
"Yeah… Go ahead…" Kyotaro's sister opened the truck and Michu popped inside. Just now, all she had to do was to close the doors and she would be able to catch him. All his previous cautiousness was nothing!
She just shook her head from how stupid he was… "Well, he still has some charm. Ah, look at that strength!" After Michu raised the capsule with his two hands, he slowly left the truck, then thanked them both.
"Thanks!" He then turned around and skipped his way to the house.
"Hey! Young man! You have to tell me your name!" Kyotaro shouted.
"Michu!" Michu replied while laughing and he was soon gone.
Left alone, the siblings glanced at each other and laughed, "What a funny guy. I already miss his smile! Haha!"
"Now I get you… It was a breeze of fresh air! Ah, I wonder how far he will reach in the game! Do you think he will be able to make some money through it?" The sister asked.
"That depends… Not everyone can make a living off this game, but some pocket money might be exactly what his family needs… And then, who knows?"
"You speak too much for someone already late. Your fiance had been waiting for an hour already. It's good that your suit didn't get dirty."
"Oh my god!"
-
"Hehe! I realized I could get money too late! But it's okay! I have heard about this game! You can become really wealthy here and fulfill your dreams!" Michu shouted! "I will be the monkey god and bring us a lot of money!"
"Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!" Nana shouted back! "What if those are loan sharks?! No… We are doomed… Mom will cry again... " She already was crying as her brother possibly stumbled upon dangerous people!
It was hard to be optimistic for the lady who knew how the world worked… Nana just sat down on the floor, as there were no chairs, and curled up to hide her tears from her brother…
He didn't do anything wrong… At least that was what she wanted to say, but Nana knew her brother wanted the best.
He also wanted change in their life…
Knock! Knock! Knock!
"Hello! Is someone in the house? We have packages from Yami Company!" The voices from the other side scared Nana, but Michu was here to protect her! He couldn't bear all her sadness, so he opened the doors, "Leave-"
But before he could even shout at them, the delivery people barged into the house.
It was not their intention, though. Contrary to the big boxes, the house was small and it was hard to see the other side.
Those people just thought that someone opened the doors to let them in.
They entered, left the boxes, asked for Michu's sign, and just left…
"Sister… They didn't seem scary… Don't cry… I don't know… what to do… Want a banana? I can ask grandma…" Michu looked down, but his sister raised her eyes at the boxes. She decided to check on those.
Then, she gasped as there was a laptop of the newest generation! She could only hear her classmates talk about these in her class, but now, she could lay hands on the laptop that belonged to her family…
And no one could laugh at her that she had no contact with the world!
"Michu… Maybe… Just maybe you got lucky…" Nana said, her face still red from tears, but she no longer looked sad and had a faint smile that erased Michu's worries.
He laughed, "Uhuhu! I will be the monkey god as I said"!
Michu went to the box he had brought in, opened it, and revealed the VR Game capsule. It was also the newest capsule manufactured by Yami Company! He opened the lid and jumped into it.
"How comfy! Sister, you can sleep here at night!" Michu told his sister who was below the capsule to plug it in...
There had been a lack of electricity for a few good years, but if the man's words were true, then the capsule should soon turn on…
"I don't need to sleep here. It's yours. You will enjoy the nights," Nana said, but Michu shook his head.
He replied, "If not you, then mom!"
"Ah, yes… Mom should sleep here. It will help with her back problems!" Nana smiled and agreed with her brother's words wholeheartedly.
She then gasped as the capsule's diodes lit up!
"Michu! You can go and play the game! Have fun!" Nana said and took Michy by surprise! She pushed his head to the capsule's pillow, then closed the lid. After Michu ended up on the pillow, his head naturally got wrapped by something akin to a helmet.
"Uhu… Uhuhu! Let's go!" Michu exclaimed!
His eyes then closed due to the darkness and comfort, then the new world unfolded itself!
[The Beginner City - Kocardo City]
An influx of newbie players kept getting bigger every day.
The new world was something enticing and more and more people came around to this new world! Young prodigies were thirsty with anticipation and excitement! Elderly people wanted to see their families and grandchildren showing off in the new world, but also to see the new world and rest here from the usual world's problems!
And even weirdos!
The guard had been seeing all of those ever since the two worlds connected.
But never in his life did he see a young man who asked this question…
"Are you… serious?"
"Yeah! Where are the bananas?"
