Beginnings of House Umbranatus

Laying on the bed I was given, I was thinking of everything that had changed within the past few hours. I had gone from your average high schooler to...whatever I am now.

My personality surprisingly didn't change much, I still feel like...me. All of these experiences of warfare, politics, death, betrayal. Other than an increase in vigilance and confidence I feel the same.

Hopefully, it stays this way. I know that some of my past lives weren't the greatest people. Genghis Khan, for example. As effective of a leader and general he was, he did many things that I find disgusting. Rape is something I will never condone.

"Igris." As I say this a shadowy knight appears from my shadow before looking over to me and getting on one knee.

"Yes, my King." His voice is deep and intimidating, well to anyone but him that would be.

"As I am now the Shadow Monarch, am I correct in assuming I am immortal?"

"Yes my King, age is only a number to you."

"Hmmm."

"What about a wife? Or my descendants?"

"There is a marriage ritual my king, in this ritual your wife's spirit will link to yours, allowing both of you to be immortal. Your children will be the same." This is good, if I can find a good wife, a trustworthy one then I can offer this to them. Allowing one access to my secrets like that is dangerous, I must be 100% sure that this person is trustworthy before offering such a thing.

That is not one of my priorities at the moment though, I have a long way to go before considering this, as of right now I must establish myself. I really do hope that King Eyron sees the benefits of this deal. From my short interaction with him, I could tell he was rather intelligent, hopefully, he can see just how much I can help him and his kingdom.

If he doesn't I will most likely go to Essos instead, although I despise slavery I would prefer going there compared to the south. In the south, I would not be able to find anywhere I would be able to start building up my power base, they are too fanatical in the following of the seven for that. The North is the perfect place for me because of many things.

The North is similar to an untapped gold mine. The vast amounts of land allowing for a lot of farming and a higher population and from what I suspect, many untapped mines of precious metals. With my experiences, I could quickly make a fortune if I am given the right land.

The New Gift seems great, it is right now not in the hands of the Night's Watch and instead, the king owns it. It is extremely fertile and is also nearby a mountain range. If I could obtain the new gift and what will later be Queenscrown I would have an easy way to begin building wealth.

I am getting ahead of myself, I first need to be given noble status before I can implement any of these plans. I close my eyes and let sleep claim me.

"I have decided to allow you what you offered on a couple of conditions." I was currently in a meeting with King Eyron, me and him are eating breakfast or as they call it here 'breaking their fast.'

"Very well, your grace." I nod for him to continue, as long as the conditions aren't too bad it should be fine.

"First, you will marry a northern bride, preferably from House Umber, as they will be your new neighbors."

"This is acceptable."

"Second, you will help in securing the Three Sisters. An Island just off the coast of the Kingdom of the Mountain and Vale, I can give you the smallest of the islands, Littlesister as compensation for this." It seems that the War of the Water is still going on then. This is good though. It would be rather easy to take over the islands and If I could have control of one of the islands I would have a port that I could trade with Essos from.

"I agree."

"Final condition, I would like you to accept the Old Gods as your religion, at least formally. Doing so will lower the tensions of a foreigner being given noble status." I was never very religious, I do however know that gods in this world did in fact exist. I could do this, converting to the Old Gods is rather easy, as far as I know, there aren't many rules in the religion.

"I will do so."

"Very well, I would need your house's sigil, name, and words within a fortnight. All of my lords are coming next moon, and I would introduce you then." That worked out well, I only need to search for house words and a sigil. The house name would be Umbranatus, maybe something to do with shadows for house words?

"Understood your grace. I shall try to have it done within the next few days." He smiled at me and stretched out his arm. After looking at the arm for a second I grabbed the arm in a warrior's handshake, smiling back at him.

"Welcome to the North Kaiser."

"Thank you, your grace."
