The Boss Would Have Our Heads For Dinner

Very early the next morning, Titan stood in front of the city gates with her parents, Ting Xiao and some other guards. She bid her parents goodbye and got on her horse. She decided to ride alone because she has been receiving horse riding lessons ever since she was four so she was pretty good at it. The king took Ting Xiao to a corner and told him something important.

"Protect my daughter. You're the only one I trust so make sure you protect her well."

"Not to worry your Highness, I'll guard her with my life." he assured.

The king nodded and walked back to the gates. As the horses rode away, both parent remained fixed on a spot until the horses were out of sight.

Still staring at the route which the horses took, queen Mica asked, "Are you sure we made the right decision? Is she going to be alright?"

"Hmm..... I believe so." The king still has some doubts but decided to be strong for his queen.

It was a smooth ride for the whole morning and they guards even began to crack jokes amongst themselves. Who would have thought that these stone faced guards could crack funny jokes.

One of the guards who was the funniest just kept laughing out loud for no reason and somehow this caused the others to laugh as well. The only set of people who still had a serious expression was Ting Xiao and his assistant John Wade who seemed to be looking for something. He was always on the look out as if he sensed danger. Even titan showed a smile.

As their horse rode through the woods at noon, everyone became silent due to scorching sun. They rode for a while before Titan furrowed her brown and stopped them by lifting her hands. Everyone wondered what was going on. She squinted her eyes and within minutes, widened them. She turned to face Ting Xiao and hurriedly showed him some signs with her hands

"You want to relief yourself?" He asked. She shook her head with a 'no' and grew impatient. She decided to demonstrate but sadly, he couldn't understand, none of them understood. She hit her palm on her head in frustration. Finally, she crouched and wrote hurriedly on the floor 'ambush' immediately she finished writing it, the horses became uncomfortable and started raising their front legs. Unfortunately, the enemies had already surrounded them.

Ting Xiao immediately drew Titan behind him and drew out the sword. He then turned in circles to see how many they were. All the other guards also drew their sword but in doing that, the people hidden behind the trees increased. The hair on Titan's hand raised. She sensed greater danger.

John Wade asked in a bold voice "Who are you and why have you blocked our path? We are only going through on a journey and are not invading your territory. We are from the Lynx clan and I believe that you know that we are not trouble makers." he was clearly confused as to why they had stopped them. No one knew that they'd be taking the princess beyond the mountains today so why are these people here and what do they want?

The strange people did not talk. They had hood on and it was hard to tell of which clan they belonged. As the strangers began to draw closer, Ting Xiao saw their batch and whispered, "Worriors from Leo clan, but how's this possible?" immediately he said this, Titan's amulet turned red and the bracelet on her upper arm slightly tightened. It had never done that before, this clearly meant that they were in grave danger.

The worriors drew closer and as they drew their sword, Titan widened her eyes 'these soldiers are not living. They are walking dead.' She thought to herself. She instinctively began to take some steps back and before she knew what was going on, they began to attack her people.

What was happening? Even if they fought with the last drop of their blood, it wasn't going to be enough. As Ting Xiao's sword drow into the first worrior, he saw through the hood and realized that this warrior was not normal. His skin was as pale as a dead body and his eyes red as volcano. It was obvious that they were either bewitched or dead or..... something else asides normal. He couldn't quite place it. The worrior tilted his head to the side and raised his brow. With a possessed voice that sounded like fifteen people were talking, he said. "Is that all you've got?" Right then, at that time Ting Xiao knew they were done for.

Before he could complete his thoughts, the warrior uses his hand and hit Ting Xiao on his belly driving him and his sword through his other guards. All the guards widened thier eyes in surprise they had never seen anything like this in their entire life.

Ting Xiao who rolled on the ground, groaned in pain and held tightly onto his tummy. The pain was excruciating. Although he had several years of training, those heavy punches were nothing compared to this. This was like a thunderbolt.

He stood with much difficulty and boomed, "Protect the princess!"

Putting Titan in the middle, they formed a circle. And then the fight began.

The dead Leo clan warriors began to attack from all angles. Sadly, the Lynx clan guard were fewer in number; no one had expected this to happen.

Sooner than later the once funny guards began to fall to the ground lifeless. There were only five guards left; including Ting Xiao and John Wade. They fought for a long time and finally, Ting Xiao cracked the puzzle. He shouted, "Cut off their heads."

Using this method, they began to defeat the dead warriors. Soon, the Lynx clan guard became three and the Leo clan warriors were three times their number. They fought with all they had but lost another guard.

Now they were only two and the Leo clan warriors were also two. Ting Xiao turned to John Wade and commanded, "Protect the princess." He then went forward. He fought and killed one but as he turned to fight the second one, a sharp sword pierced through his side.

Titan widened her eyes. Even she did not see that coming. He looked at the person who had stabbed him and it turned out to be John Wade. Why? Why did he do this?

Ting Xiao's eyes were filled with confusion. This was a guard with whom they ate together, laughed together, grew up together and they even confided in each other so why? Why was he turning against him? In his puzzled state, John Wade drove his sword deeper in causing blood to spew out of Ting Xiao mouth. He then removed his sword from Ting Xiao's side causing even more pain and he took some steps back. As John Wade began to walk away, Ting Xiao fell to the floor and grabbed onto his wound preventing too much blood loss but the cut was deep. His eyes began to close and just as he was about to fall into eternal bliss, something rang in his head. "I'll guard her with my life..." he wasn't the type not to fulfill his promises.

John Wade scanned through the woods with his eyes but couldn't find the girl. He began to move northwards with the last walking dead. They walked for a while but couldn't find her.

"Let's split and find that girl if not the boss would have our heads for dinner.
