_________ POV Narration_________
The news of All Might's retirement, as well as his reasons for retiring, quickly spread around the world. All Might may have been a Japanese hero, but he still had fans all over the world.
Many contemplated on both All Might's state, as well as the words he decided to end his speech with.
He had made it clear, through his words and gestures that he was putting his trust in the younger generation.
And in doing so, he sparked an entirely new era. Countless people that had no aspiration to become heroes in the past now were motivated to do so.
Why? Well, because All Might made it clear to them... The future was in the hands of the heroes in the newer generations.
In the past, All Might had already inspired countless young men and women to become heroes. Made every single child that saw him dream of one day becoming a hero too.
But this time it was something else entirely... Everyone was aiming for one clear goal. To one day be able to call themselves the new Symbol.
The Symbol of Peace would remain a legendary title, one that only All Might was capable of holding. He was the very first person to become a pillar that held up their society, a powerful wall that stopped crime in Japan for decades.
Therefore, one needed to show that he could do the same in order to call himself a new symbol.
And the era already had a clear figurehead, something for people to seek to overcome... That was none other than Beru.
Although he was also technically part of the younger generation, he came into the spotlight as a veteran hero with many years under his belt.
He was also considered the strongest hero alive. He was already well into forging his own legend. He wasn't given the title of Symbol, but he was by far the closest to that title.
The only reason people didn't quite give Beru the Nr.1 spot in the past was that All Might was still active. Now that he was officially retired, it made way for Beru to become the Nr.1 Hero.
There was no doubt in anyone's mind that he was more than worthy of that title. But he didn't quite seem interested in holding the moniker of a Symbol.
Media attention was quite stirred in a different direction though, as All Might's pupil, Izuku, became a hot topic of discussion, with All Might having thrown his cape directly at the young man being what sparked the interest.
People quickly started drawing lines and finding out more about the two. Some people even came out and claimed that they had seen All Might train Izuku before the young man had even joined UA.
Many now considered Izuku to be All Might's direct successor, it also made sense when looking at their strength. Izuku already surpassed the strength of his mentor, and he was still getting stronger.
Izuku quickly rose to the Nr.2 spot in the leaderboards. Bakugo followed right behind him, blowing away any and all villains that were mentally challenged enough to become bolder after All Might's retirement.
Well, they were all stupid enough to start acting brazenly right after All Might inspired an entire to become stronger heroes, so they weren't really that big of a threat.
The more worrying villains were the ones that were still hiding in the rubble that was the Japanese underworld.
The underworld itself was nowhere near as large and powerful as it used to be, but some capable villains were still roaming around, waiting for opportunities.
Needless to say, the world wasn't going to be the same anymore. And villains were certainly not going to have as easy a time as before.
Beru might've been perversely powerful and somewhat sadistic, but he had never outright sought out any groups of villains by himself(taking Toga to kill criminals doesn't count).
Well, All Might's retirement had energized all of the heroes that were still working.
No one had the time to whine and cry about the retirement of the symbol, they were all preoccupied with making him proud, and making sure that his trust in the younger generation wasn't misplaced.
Currently, Beru wasn't wholly interested in the aftermath of All Might's reveal. He had plenty of other worries in his mind.
One of them was the fact that Nemuri still seemed somewhat off to the insectoid. She acted normal for the first part, but Beru found her smile a bit forced on occasion.
His insecurities quickly filled in the gap for him, making him think that maybe learning of his past was what caused her to change a bit.
But he also was intelligent enough to not let his anxiety make decisions for him.
He decided to not misunderstand and overthink things, Nemuri was an open person, she was going to tell him what was wrong eventually. Until then, he had no reason to worry about that.
There were plenty of other things for him to overthink besides his relationships anyway...
_________ POV Beru _________
Damn, these days have been busy.
Still, at least Toshi seems to have thrown a lot of weight off his chest. He kinda looks like an old man enjoying his retirement at this point.
Well, he's still a teacher at UA, and will probably keep being a teacher until his condition worsens, but at least he's happy.
I think he enjoys teaching teens about heroism... Although he's not exactly what I'd describe as a 'great teacher'... Welp, he makes up for his lack of talent in the field with passion.
Currently, I'm sitting down in the middle of the large crater that was once the centre of Cairo.
I've kinda put the investigation of this place on hold. Well, I just told Don to deal with it, but I do want to look at the sight in person.
It looks really weird, I've never seen a sinkhole that I've not created...
I don't really care about people recognizing me, since I am currently just transformed into a random Japanese mobster.
I've been looking through the debris for a while now, and It looks a bit surreal still. I guess I didn't think anyone in this world would be capable of such destruction besides me.
Well, to be fair, it was a baby, and the baby did die in the process... The worst part is that keeping track of all young married couples and making sure they consume the cure on a regular basis is simply impossible...
I'm starting to think that shit can only go downhill from here. At least Japan is somewhat safe...
With that thought in mind, I just warped off back to Japan.
I sat down on a random tall building and just undid my transformation. No reason to hide in this country.
I mean, there wasn't much reason to hide in Cairo either, but I just like secrecy.
"Breaking News! Egypt Government reopened the investigation after receiving an anonymous letter! The contents of that letter will be revealed la-" The reporter sure is loud today...
Really should stop hanging around buildings with those stupid big screens near them. It's almost as if they want people to go deaf or something...
Wait... What the fuck did he just say?
