The Alpha's Abandoned Daughter

Running around my room making sure I have everything that I need packed in my bags that are going in the car with us. This is the third time this year that we have moved. My mom is a consultant for major businesses. She's really good at what she does and loves her job, but her job makes us move really often. Today is moving day of course, we are heading to some town in the middle of nowhere for a huge outdoors sports company. My mom goes into a company, looks at everything like the profit and loss, the COGs and all the other ways a company could possibly be losing money.

Mom says one of the perks of this particular assignment is free sporting equipment, like I'm an outdoors person. Which incase you are wondering, I'm not. I am a bookworm really. Not quite a nerd, but pretty close. I just don't enjoy playing sports, I like taking hikes and being in the woods, just don't like all the physical running and such.

As we are walking around the house to do our last check to make sure we are not leaving anything behind that must be taking today, I see a picture of me and my dad that I totally forgot about. I quickly grab it and put it in my bag and walk out to the SUV my mom just bought for this assignment since it will be in the country we might need it she said. I load my bag in the back and get into the drivers seat. I just got my license and mom said this would be good practice for me and once we get to the new house we can look for a new car for me since she works so much I can have a way to do things with my new friends. Like I will really make any new friends. I am not super shy, but I don't for out of my way to meet new people. I know crazy shy. I just don't feel the need to push myself onto people. If they want to meet me, they will introduce themselves to me. I mean I am a girl that really doesn't do much in the relem of school activities, but I spend most of my time in the library or walking trails. I love the smell of the woods. I want to be a writer so I take in as much literature as I can.

"Hi Hunny, you ready to get started? Are you comfortable driving the distance, when you get tired just tell me and we can switch okay." I love my mom, but she worries too much. We should make to our destination in about 6 hours or so depending how many stops we make. I take one last look at the house we have been in for the past 6 months and pull out of the driveway. I hit the freeway and off we go.

I turn and glance at my mom and notice she is reading a book about wolves, "Mom what are you reading today?" I can't help but ask her. We always read the same book together. It sounds weird but it's nice to read a book and then have someone to discuss it with later. It's like a mini book club just for us. Not to mention I love spending what little time I have with my mom. She works a lot especially when she is starting a new assignment.

"Well I found this book that was your dads, and it has a note I it so I thought I would read it and see what it was about. He actually left the note to you." I am taken back by what my mom just said, I meant my dad left us years ago saying that he loved us but needed to keep us safe he had to leave and we haven't seen him since. I love my dad, but that was not what was supposed to happen. It broke my mom's heart. My dad does call and talk to my on my birthdays, he always ask me how I'm feeling and what I have been up to. I know my dad loves me. But he asks the weirdest questions. My birthday is in a couple of weeks so I expect to get a call from him soon. I keep telling him I really want to see him. Maybe I will soon.

All if a sudden I want a burger and not just any burger it needs to be huge. I see a diner just up ahead and since we have been on the road for about 4 hours I could use a break. "Mom can we stop and eat. I am starving all of a sudden." I glance at my mom and she's sleeping. I chuckle and elbow her a bit just enough to wake her up. I repeat my question to her and she agrees. I think I will let her take over for the rest of the drive. We should be to the new place. I hope it's nice. We have been in some dumps in the past, I just hope this place is nice. I pull into the diner and find a parking spot. We get out and I notice a black truck, I am not sure why I notice it. It's not super fancy but it is rather expensive looking. I shrugged mt shoulders and walk in the diner. One of the waitress's waves 'Hi' and tells us to just sit anywhere we'd like. I pick a booth so that I can still look out the window at the tree line.

We are in the middle of nowhere, so I am not sure what I expect to see. The waitress comes and takes our drink order and give us menus to look at. The name of the diner is Blue Moon Burgers. Catchy name. When comes back I order a ½ pounder with bacon and cheese all the way with loaded fries. My mom just gets a salad, I eat like a horse compared to her. She laughs at me and tells me that I eat like my dad. Mom always tells me that I am more like my dad than her.

While I'm lost in my thoughts the waitress comes and hands us our food and looks at me and says welcome to Blue Moon Territory. I obviously have a confused look on my face because she goes ridged and wild eyed at me and turns and walks away. I start eating my burger while just staring out the window, like something is calling out to me and I can't look away. I am not sure what to call it but is a since of longing or maybe belonging. It's just a plain out weird feeling.
