3 Chapter 3: An unexpected turn

Suddenly, they heard gunshot sounds from the village. They both were surprised. 19007 took Zafina to her home and told her to lock the doors from inside. He went outside and saw some jeeps arriving. He drew their attention and made them follow him to the farm. The men got out of the jeep and saw that 19007 wasn't there. "Find him! He's hiding in this farm." A man yelled. Suddenly, 19007 and his team came out of the tunnels that they made in the farm and started firing at those men. They killed many extremists, suddenly 19007 saw a man who was with Kazim in the prison and tortured 19007. The situation was really bad. 19007 yelled, " Daljit! You all go and evacuate the villagers, make sure no one gets harmed. I will keep these guys busy." Daljit yelled, "but what about y..." 19007 interrupted and yelled, "don't worry about me, just get the villagers to safety. Now GO!" Daljit and his men slowly went back to the village. 19007 saw the extremist going to an abandoned factory. He followed them. Suddenly someone hit him on his head. 19007 fell on the ground. The Kazim's friend was Altaf. He laughed and said, "so, you're still alive, huh?! We thought you died in that fire. In fact, we hoped." Altaf ordered his men to beat 19007 until he dies. They all hit 19007 with rods and stones. When they all got tired, they stopped. But they all were shocked to see that 19007 didn't have a single scratch on him. They were stunned and scared. 19007 slowly stood up and said, "that boy died long ago in that fire, I am the doom of the people like you, who brainwash innocent young men to kill their own brothers and rape women for religion." Altaf was scared. 19007 grabbed Altaf and bit his throat off. All the other men backed up in fear, 19007 spat Altaf's throat and yelled, "bring it!" In angry voice. They tried to attack 19007 but her easily overpowered them. 19007 ripped the head of the last guy alive. Daljit came running towards 19007. Daljit said in a stuttering voice, "all villagers are safe... But..." 19007 turned and asked, "what happened?!" Daljit told him to come and see. He took 19007 to Zafina's house. The locks were broken and the doors were open. 19007 was slowly moving towards the house while murmuring "no" continuously in a mournful voice. He entered and saw burned corpse of Zafina lying on the floor. He dropped on his knees. Daljit came from behind and said, "some villagers saw five extremists breaking into the house, they raped her and burned her alive. But those men were armed so the villagers couldn't do anything." 19007 closed his eyes and hugged the burned corpse of Zafina. After that day, 19007 changed completely. He disappeared. The leagues recruited almost all men in the country. They were preparing for battle. But suddenly 19007 reappeared and started hunting members of these leagues all over the country. He was a ruthless killing machine and did it all alone. By the end of the year 19007 massacred 37 million people. All of them were members of the leagues. The rest of the members were committing suicide or changing their religion due to the fear of 19007. The leagues were 80% obliterated. 19007 became the most wanted misanthropic serial killer all over the world. But no one could catch him. He was all over the news. But one day 19007 surrendered himself. He was presented to the court. Everyone called him monster, killer, coward etc. The judge started the case. 19007 was responsible for massacres, sabotage, mutilations and many more. 19007 was handcuffed, he yelled, "yes! I am guilty. I have killed many people, I am the guy who drove people to suicide and I caused chaos. But among the leagues. I have killed many people. Those people who kill other men for religion, rape innocent women and convert them, those people who burn cities and villages, kill innocent pigs and cows to precipitate riots. I killed those people. These people who brainwash young men to riot and kill their own brothers. I tried my best to do this peacefully but I ended up losing everything.... Even myself. These leagues were preparing for battle to destroy the country and make it vulnerable to oppression of other countries. They didn't know that I am here. They wanted a battle, I gave them a war. A war that they could never possibly win. Its not too late to stop this bloodbath, I suggest you find a way to kill me and end all these league bullshit." Everyone in the court were silent and confused. The judge asked, "what do you mean by find a way?." 19007 smiled and said, "you'll find out soon enough ma'am." The judge thought about everything he said. But later the judge gave death sentence to 19007. As he was in jail, all the leagues slowly recommenced riots in the cities. Crime rates increased again. On the day 19007 was going to be hanged, the officer said, "you're in no condition to make any last wishes but we hope you burn in hell." 19007 chuckled and said, "here we go again." The executioner pulled the lever and 19007 fell down. Few minutes later they brought him down. Suddenly his neck reattached and he sat up. Everyone was shocked and scared. They all knew that he wasn't human. He was kept in his cell, they tried several ways to execute him like electrocution, drowning, burning, decapitation, lethal injection. But nothing could kill him. One day the authority decided to take 19007 to a lab to study on his mutation and see if they can get the secret of immortality. The day when they were taking him to the lab, some mercenaries attacked their vehicles and killed everyone. 19007 stepped out of the van and said, "that wasn't necessary but, thanks Daljit." "We need you, brother!" Daljit replied. They went back to a secret base. 19007 again started his movement to stop the leagues from growing. Daljit became the second in command of the Peacemakers. They saved many cities from extremists and rescued many civilians. 19007 always hid his face with a skull mask. After saving over 6 cities, one evening all of the members of peacemakers were having a celebration. They drank beer and talked. 19007 was sitting alone in front of a candle with a faded picture of Zafina. He was smoking a cigar and thinking of her. Daljit went to 19007 with two glasses of beer and sat beside him. 19007 said in a low voice, "its really hard for me to get drunk. Thanks though." Daljit smirked and said, "here you go pal, but I see that you still miss her." 19007 replied in a sorrowful voice, "I still can't believe they took her away from me. She didn't deserve that. I can feel her beside me. She is so beautiful." Daljit patted him on the back and said, "I know how it feels, but the world needs you." 19007 stood up in anger and said, "No! You'll never know how it feels. I have lost everything" Daljit chuckled and said in a sad voice, "let me tell you about my story, sir. I also loved a woman named Paramjeet kaur. She was also innocent and loved me with all her heart. She wanted to complete her school and marry me. She was so sweet." 19007 asked, "what do you mean by was?" Daljit almost cried and said, "There were 15 extremists, they killed her parents, then they surrounded her. They ripped off her clothes and...." Daljit started crying. 19007 grabbed his shoulders and said, " hey! You have to be strong. I am so sorry to hear that." Daljit said, "she slit her own throat with a sickle before they could convert her." 19007 was in anger and pain. While rubbing his own eyes, Daljit said, "No, the country needs us. We can't be weak now. We have to kill these extremist bastards. I am with you, just give the word." 19007 smiled and patted on Daljit's shoulder and said, "You are very strong." The peacemakers were all over the newspapers. They were the new savior of the people. 19007 never showed his face and gave all the credits to his team. Riots stopped and the leagues got pushed down by the peacemakers. One day 19007 decided to go in front of people to talk to them about true religion. He went alone. Few people gathered to listen. 19007 said, "you see? These two faced politicians and extremist leaders were the cause of the riots and chaos. They tried to brainwash us in believing their drivel but we are not fools. None of the gods have said to make religion and divide everyone only then you're faithful to me. The true gods have said that the greatest religion is humanity. But these bastard extremists make us fight each other, to gain power. And what do we get?! We become their puppets and they become the boss." Some people clapped and some people called him blasphemer and left. He said, "it is totally understandable if you don't want to listen, but later if you rethink about my words, then I'm sure you'll find something meaningful." As he finished his sentence, someone shot him on his chest. People ran in panic. 19007 sat up and coughed. The bullet automatically came out and the wound healed, he saw Kazim approaching towards him with few men. 19007 yelled in rage, "you?! I'll kill you!" Kazim quickly shot 19007's both legs. 19007 fell on the ground. Kazim laughed and said, "while you were trying to make these religious fools understand the true meaning of devotion. I killed all of your pet dogs in your safehouse." 19007 was in shock. Kazim said, "I know its painful. I can't even imagine losing so many people I care about. You can heal but I don't think that your pet dogs can. But before I go, I will watch you die." Kazim's men aimed their rifles at 19007 and fired several times. Kazim laughed and left the location in a jeep. Few seconds later, 19907 stoop up, bathed in his own blood. He was slowly walking. The scared people who were hiding, came out and saw 19007 going back. They all were scared and shocked by the incident. When he reached the safehouse, everything was gone. Everyone was dead. Corpses lying everywhere and the place was slowly burning. He went inside and saw ashes still burning. He put his hand inside the ashes and found the kara that Daljit used to wear. 19007 war broken. He blamed himself. His eyes were red in anger and he was blood thirsty. 19007 buried the remaining corpses. When he was leaving, he saw someone on top of a clocktower, but the person had huge wings. 19007 quickly reached for his binoculars, but when he looked again, no one was there.
