your thinking is flawed , you might as well make this story a self insert. people don't burn down orphanages, but they don't go out of their way to help the children. if someone decided to burn down an orphanage they won't feel guilt in the first place. Humans are selfish creatures, they think about themselves first, your charcter feels inhuman.

BoiGeorge:Harry was just the initial person he thought of. Picture this lad. You have knowledge of an orphanage burning down and you know it's going to happen. Getting involved is risky so initially you want to stay out of it. If you let that orphanage burn down how would you feel 20 years into the future? Of course you'd be crushed with guilt if you were any sane human, you may even gain PTSD from it in an extreme case. Oz in a way is a hero to the cast of the story as he will help then out of such bad situations but Oz's motive for doing so is purely self driven so he doesn't feel the guilt of watching these events unfold from the sideline knowing full well how many people will get hurt and even die because of it. If Oz was a hero as you claim he is then after he found such a hideout he would have immediately gone "There's more evil in the world time to kill" and went off to murder more dark wizards doing the same thing but he doesn't. - TL:DR on the outside looking in Oz is a hero but on the inside he believes he's not due to his motives, the chapter name is a ironic statement in regards to how it goes both ways.

Ok, this is just became another hero story. Seriously even if he can't ignore his would be "regret". Why would he want to get close to harry, his initial plan to help from the shadow is much more believable and align with his 'selfish' desire. His plan to insert himself in Harry's life just feel so he can be viewed as hero and worshipped. This turn of event really left a bad taste

Feel the need to explain in more detail what I was going for with this chapter and the changes within Oz: So in this chapter you see Oz's mindset change, wanting to now step in and change the canon. This change occurs solely as he see's the cruel reality of muggleborns suffering, noticing that not everything is centred around the events of the story and that there is a bigger world out there with suffering everyday. Oz's motive for changing the canon is purely self-drive and selfish. From the outside looking in, a lot of people will see him now as a hero as he's going to stop bad events from occurring. However, Oz himself knows that his reason for stepping in is actually selfish as he just doesn't want to feel regret for not doing anything after the original canon finishes (Especially considering he has the knowledge AND power to do something). Such a weight would eat at him later on in life and the regret could kill him. So the chapter title "No Hero" is an ironic statement. Some will see him as a hero for stepping in and stopping events before they occur but Oz himself doesn't believe he's a hero as he only now decided to step in purely because of selfish motives. If Oz was a hero, he would have apprehended those dark wizards and turned them in but he killed them. If Oz cared for the canon and characters before he would have rushed to privet drive to bail harry out. The reason I put the "Deep-Thinking" tag on this story was precisely for chapters like this, where dependant on how you view life and how deeply you read into things you can have your own personal takes on Oz's personality now. After all while I have my own ideas and takes the readers should too, even if they differ from mine a lot. Thats what in my eyes makes a unique experience in a story. - Thanks for coming to my TED talk :).

i think the biggest mistake you did with this change was that it was to fast like if this change was more obvius over 10 chapter rather than 1 people would not have that big of a reaction i think

Nice , i like that Oz will now truly become a part of the HP world and not someone that is only an observer like some stories. And with him being the heir of merlin, who is the equivalent of the wizarding worlds jesus, he could change a lot of things for the better.

Well that was interesting, however I hope hes not going to go out his way to save everyone and just be like if he sees it and knows it he will help. thats much better and he can make gadgets and other things to help the world progress I guess
