Another problem is his reluctance to change canon plot. It is like those Harry potter fnafiction where the main character won't liberate sirius, destroy the horoxuxes until the golden trio does it. I understand that in HP it break the plot and make the mc OP. Here there isn't such problem, the secret of the original plot are not that powerful. To not change the timeline when there is obvious advantages to it make the mc look stupid, the plot reheared and the author's intent obvious.

Well, you could make the trading soul thing only for exceptional/special souls. Like he can gain more sword knowledge if he trades the soul of a great swordmaster, or you could simply say that after exchanging some souls things keep getting exponentially more expensive, or he can only trade information the serpent, or that the serpent is simply greedy and doesn't accept normal souls after a time. These are just some suggestions, hope I've helped a bit. Thanks for the chapters :).

If you don’t feel like re-reading it, basically what happens is that the deal was changed. Instead of trading something like souls, instead it will be ‘wisdom’ and ‘knowledge’ that is of great value. Obviously, Harkon doesn’t currently possess any knowledge that the serpent wants. Harkon trades the apple for a freebie, but in the future, the deals will be knowledge for knowledge. Harkon won’t come into posession of any knowledge that is suitable for trade for an incredibly long time.

Ehh not sure how I feel about the new way its done, I feel like trading "wisdom" is so obscure that what feels like great wisdom to one person will feel like basic logic of another person. Also what is "great wisdom" to what seems to be a god? As a god that I imagine is many times older than the MC he must have far greater wisdom than anything Harkon can find in his, comparatively, pitifully short life. The trade for items of power I like, however I feel like souls should still be tradable but make it only powerful souls. The soul of a commoner in the nilfgaard army is worthless, he could reap thousands of those. The soul of a wizard of great power, the soul of a renowned witcher, the soul of a king or queen, those should be tradable, for those have actual worth to them, those souls could contain great wisdom or could even be considered "items" of great power. Still enjoying the story nevertheless and its not a big enough change to change that.
