Chapter 22: The goddess starts to recover

Sarah Codache

The unfamiliar, habitual smell of a place woke me up. As I slowly opened my eyes, the nebulous and gray surroundings embraced my sight. My back can barely function while maintaining the balance to raise myself from laying down.

When I was completely awake, I found out that I was sitting in the middle of this empty, huge room. Plus, the ceiling was higher than what we had in our home. I can't stop roaming my eyes to those bright lights which irritated my eyes when I tried glancing at them. The ventilations were refreshing, but I was not satisfied. I felt my inner body was like burning every second.

The walls were in deep blue, and the only thing that gave me access to what was outside was the transparent wall in front of me.

I trembled when I felt something strange in my breathing. I tried to stand up, but my feet were weak to make it possible. My eyes rapidly looked everywhere, and my arms were getting weaker as if it slowly becomes uncontrollable.

I can't understand what was happening to me.

Personally, my surrounding was comfortable, but it seemed like my body was totally against it.

And besides, where am I?

I focused my attention on that transparent wall, where I see those new yet incredible things I had never seen before, hoping for someone to pass by. There were floating objects, and I think it was a bunch of chairs and tables. It was unbelievable in the eyes!

Later on, my wish was successful. A woman with curly hair and cute light orange highlights on her lips approached one of those tables I mentioned. Her face looked too focus on what she was doing. She was bringing a transparent glass with something that I can't identify what was inside of it. Then, she carefully poured the object into a long tube that was mounted just beside this room. The said tube connected to plenty of receptacles with hosts that were smaller than the one I saw during the fire in our place.

As the woman gradually pouring it down, my eyes were quizzing at the reaction that happened during the process. I can still hear the splattering of water that traveled throughout the machines even though the process was happening outside.

I was too focused on observing it when a thud sound echoed inside all over the place! The continuous, heavy sounds of two objects opening against each other dominate the whole area.

I lost my focus. I cannot concentrate on managing myself on what to do. I shivered more as I consoled my full attention of myself towards the corner of this room.

Gradually, a fire appeared in those random areas on the floor or even below the walls! What is this?!

My hands were uncontrollable as I kept keeping a distance away from those fires. My mouth was hang-opened, and my eyes could no longer comprehend the blurry situation.

I covered my ears and shouted.

I feel like I was about to get burned.

Suddenly, I felt a tiny fire flew into my toes as I closed my eyes to avoid seeing how the pain burning my skin. It was also the time I knew I wasn't wearing any slippers at all.

But to my astonishment, I was too terrified when I realized that the fire disappeared; it became a vapor. After that, I can sense the range of the wind circulating the fires. The tips of my hair strands blew with its direction. That blowing sound washed away my fear.

My terrified reaction changed into an emotionless one while starring at those huge-ranging fires. It did not even burn the walls. I let out a small, sadistic smile on my face as I looked towards the tubes with water remains. My eyes widened in a desire to break the long glass container.

I stood up while giving no care to those fires which climbed on my legs. I spotted those people who were observing me in detail, but those were not my attention. I positioned myself back in the middle and straightened my body as I stared at the glass with water. I can feel my eyes turned into a circulating blue as I pushed myself to scatter those water.

The glass wall broke into pieces. The scattering of its debris echoed, and those people who stood outside immediately moved themselves to safety. Then, the tube slowly breaks as I tilted my head to give more power. When it completely broke down, the water spread limitless to the ground until the fire began to disappear.

My eyes were still in blue with the zeal to occupy the place with water. These were focusing, stilled while looking at the water's primary source.

The surroundings became colder, lights were blinking to shut down, and the rest of the glass materials began to break. I can hear the snapping of objects as it fell on the floor. As seconds passed by, the water became more vigorous. It rapidly grew.

The annoying siren of red lights and honking horns and the loud, chaotic conversation of these people joined the situation.

"Lance! Push the button now!"

"Alexis, help me close the doors!"

"Elaine! Go with Aniela to shut down all the programmed machines we had in this facility that were functioning!"

"No! No! No! We need to move out!"

These people were panicking as they tried to control the situation, but they cannot. One person with a pimpled face even reached out the buttons to use the programmed machines they had, but it failed. I guessed these people have no idea that things will turn out this way.

"Wake, what are you waiting for? Let's go out!"

Right beside my vision, a familiar man stood up while looking at me. He was calm. He didn't even look like he's affected at all. I was not facing him, but I can sense his actions.

"Wake! Please go out! The water is getting deeper!" A female voice pleaded, but the man seemed not to give a care.

The waters were now at the level of my hips. And as the water went higher, I felt became weak. I get back to my consciousness, and my eyes weren't circulating a blue anymore. My body was now even more controllable, and my senses became normal once again.

I was not feeling well. I felt my head was about to burst out!

I tried keeping myself in balance, but my feet were too weak to stand up. My eyes were closed.

I was about to drown myself in the water when an arm quickly caught my hips, and I felt my head bumping in the air. I was not able to see who that person was, but I felt my body raised. The coldness of the water dropped down from my skin as my head was hanging, and I can no longer open my eyes a half. That person who saved me from drowning stood in this area for a second. I guess that person was checking if I am okay.

But the point was...

I think someone was carrying me.
