Chapter 142: PITYING THE ENEMY

Ken collapsed from his feet,

Tasting another defeat.

Lluming told him to stand up,

But his knees would simply not.

The angel did not hesitate,

To encourage him and wait,

But Ken's legs would simply not obey,

Already screaming in agony and pain.

He felt dizzy, and his vision blurred,

As Lluming urged him again to stand but it didn't work,

Finally, he decided it's better for him to rest,

As Ken dropped to the ground, filled with sweat.

Mar and Stacy raced towards his passed out body,

As Lluming left the ladies tend to his injuries,

Gabriel was in shock, of the coldness Lluming presented,

But Lluming told him, that the demons would be much merciless.

"He needs to understand pain, the enemies would be far brutal,

If I don't train him this way, he'd end up being a coward.

He needs to know the risks, because Evil simply doesn't sleep,

Treat this training lightly, and he'd die in the dreaded battle field."

Gabriel nodded and understood the young angel's reason,

But his heart was still torn with the little boy's mission,

"He could die with that amount of injury,"

"Don't worry Senior Gabriel, I'd fetch Raphael immediately."

...

Ken's POV:

I opened my eyes and felt a sticky liquid dropping from my forehead,

It's blood, it stings, but at least I'm not dead.

I knew Sir Lluming would always be this strict,

But never in a million years would I expect our fight to end like this.

And I thought I was already strong...

"Ken!" Stacy yelled as she hurried and patch up my wounds,

While Mar offered me some water and food.

"Take that away for now! I'm patching him up!"

Stacy yelled, as Mar clearly frowned.

I sighed and took the food from Mar,

I was already hungry after all.

I really don't know how to feel from this,

I'm scared of them both than pleased.

"You're still amazing! The fight was great!"

Stacy quickly exclaimed.

I felt embarrassed, turned deeply red,

Knowing if it was reality, I would have been dead.

"I got beat up, though. Pretty badly at that.

And even if I tried my all, I knew sir Lluming was just holding back.

Angels are way too fast for me to dodge,

And an archangel especially so."

"Yeah, I guess you're still right.

Still, that was a great fight.

How long do you think it'd take for you to finally master it?"

"I don't know. Maybe a millinon years."

"You gotta be bluffing,"

"Obviously I am."

"Haha, anyways, after I patch you up, sleep dreamily, okay?

Oh, and here, drink this medicine,"

She handed me a bottle with a liquid colored grey.

I had qualms about drinking the substance,

And I noticed Mar was as worried as I am.

"I...I'm fine enough, thank you,"

I refused, not knowing what the liquid could do.

I honestly had my guts tingling about Stacy,

She's not usually like this with me.

She's sweet, gentle, and caring,

But not giving off this huge threat that feels like a predator hunting.

With all the crazy things that had already occured,

One cannot blame the other if we feel wary and refused.

After all, she had been away from us for a very long time,

Who would know? What deal's in her mind?

The silence grew far awkward than before,

As Stacy finally pulled back her hand, stood up and quietly go.

I knew she must be upset, but I didn't know what the medicine was for,

I've never in my life, saw a mixture like that before.

Mar looked at me, and I knew what she was thinking,

"Why was Stacy acting differently?"

I could only sigh as I wonder if she's still the same person,

Or if the circumstances made her different, for some reason.

I wanted to talk to her, to catch up,

Until I heard Mar sigh, deeply at that.

I turned, and saw her eyes filled with pure sadness,

So I stopped, and asked her why she seemed that way.

Mar pursed her lips,

As she crumpled her fists.

"I remembered a demon named Elenchos,

He was kinder than what most would think.

Ken, I wanted to save him.

I just remembered him just now.

If Stacy here is safe with us.

I want Elenchos' refuge to be found.

He saved me and treated me nicely,

You know him, right? That demon who acted friendly?

You saw his face, and I tell you, he must be saved,

He's not a monster, in any sense of the way.

I...trust him more than I trust some humans,

And if I truly did get stronger, I'll save him no matter how I can.

He doesn't deserve to live in a pit of flames,

He's more human, than some other guys I know, these days."

I thought thoroughly,

And remembered his face,

He did look kind,

Even with ivory horns in display.

His eyes that twinkled,

Like gold and silver coins,

And his friendly smile,

That he gave Mar was assuring and pure.

"Ah, yes, how could I forgot?

The day I saw you again, when you...

kissed my cheek and...

hm,

Yeah, I'll do everything I can to save him too,

If you say he must be saved, then I'd help you to,"

Mar gave me the brightest of smiles,

As she told me she'd look forward to that,

Although I feel cautious, and remembered what the archangels said,

I still need to consider, some enemies may turn to friends.

"Mar," Joseph, tha angel with white hair and blue eyes,

Dressed in a standard angels outfit colored in white,

Called out to Mar, with a knowing smile,

"Our training starts! Leave your sweetheart for a while!"

Mar looked at me and waved goodbye,

As I patted her back, and told her goodluck,

And while she went away, excitement in her eyes,

I sat there, and rethought what she said for a while.

Can demon really be...in anyway kind?

.

.

.

"You seemed troubled, may I help you?"

Jegudiel asked, as I shook my head a few,

"It's nothing," I replied,

"You're lying, I know there's something you hide."

His blue eyes looked at me with worry,

As he sat carefully beside me,

I wondered if I could keep refusing him,

Until he spoke, a bid sadly.

"I don't like to be denied,

So please, tell me what's the matter,

If I can help at all,

Wouldn't it be better?"

"I just wanted to know if you'd forgive a demon,"

He looked shocked at my sudden question.

He thought a bit, and considered the situation,

Until he looks back, "If he apologized for his actions.

Apologizing is knowing you're wrong,

Putting your pride down, and believing you could improve,

If one became humble enough, to kneel upon the Lord,

Then I'll treat him as a friend of course."

"Had such thing happened yet?"

"A demon's pride is higher than their heads,

So no, perhaps some lack courage,

After all if Lucifer finds out, then they'll end up dead.

But is fear of death stronger than your fear of God?

That is the question they pondered not.

No matter how kind we angels are,

We still can't accept them, no matter what.

They stink of sin, they stink of pride,

They stink of blood that they refused to wash.

If they aren't brave enough to ask for forgiveness,

Then why should we treat them with love and patience?

Enemies are supposed to be scorned,

We still give them a chance of course,

But this isn't the time to be filled with kindness,

This is war, where there's a risk to lose loved ones and children.

Pitying the enemy amidst ongoing war,

Will be risky, and could be one's own downfall,

I refuse to believe that such time would make anyone realize they're wrong,

After all, the demons have been planning this catasthrope for so long.

They have no other desire but to seek for vengeance,

To see one have a change of heart, would sure amaze me,

After all, I haven't seen one demon long for redemption,

Especially when they're faced with Satan's deception."

I nodded my head as I think about what he explained,

But what about the things Mar to me said?

I sighed, trying to hope she's right,

That Elenchos is somehow, different and nice.

"You're asking that because?"

I felt my heart beat stop,

I looked at him and with those eyes staring into me,

I cannot deny nor say anything else to flee.

"I, well, we were thinking about a demon named Elenchos,"

"Ah, the son of Mammon, he's too oblivious,

He's mostly a puppet, doing what the elders would say,

Not that I could blame his ignorance anyway.

Have you met him? I had rumors he was hated,

Since he's softer than one expected."

"I...yeah, Mar and Elenchos formed some sort of frienship,

And now, she wanted to save him."

"That's...dangerous, I'll go talk to her after her training,"

"Please don't! I'll be the one to tell her something."

"Are you sure? I just don't want her risking her life for nothing,

No matter how you look at it, Elenchos is still a demon that can easily be swayed and manipulated.

Fix Mar's mindset for me,

Her kindness might cause all of humanity.

I do not blame her at all for feeling a sort of gratitude,

But if you want her alive, stop her from such delusions.

Elenchos still have evil in his heart,

I know and I felt it, when I met him once,

Forming a relationship with a demon could always be turned against us,

They know how to take advantage, and no true friendship with one long lasts."
