Chapter 26: QUIET

Mar realized my distress,

That she looked back and ordered everyone quiet,

With the fear enveloping my chest,

I knew danger would want us to buy it.

The roof tiles we're holding on started to wobble,

If we manage to release our grasp it'd be trouble,

So with the risk going on one suggested himself,

"You are important, let me check instead,"

He was smiling, his name Robert,

Brown hair, blue eyes, quite noble,

Strong man, healthy and quick,

I'm sure he's good enough to do it.

I agreed and slowly crawled out of the way,

"If I didn't return for five minutes, don't stay,"

He said, then proceeded, and we all were still,

Quite scared, some uncertain, some don't know what to feel.

...

(Robert's Point of View)

As I get closer to a hole on the roof,

The smoke disappeared, no matter where I look,

Then I peeked, and saw weird people inside,

Dressed in white robes, talking with pride.

I don't know what to do with the information I had,

So I looked back ay them, forming gestures with the hand,

Should I go in there? But I really am not sure,

If those people are for real, or in a cult no one knew.

That's when one of them seemed to have heard something,

It smiled, and I hid, afraid I'd be found,

I heard it say to the other to be quiet,

"For I heard something move, maybe hiding,"

I froze still, and I knew what to be done,

They all seem suspicious, so we need to run,

But that is when I heard their footsteps getting further,

That I had the urge to look, just one more,

And I saw it.

Their tables were filled with food, like a feast,

"Where did they get this? I should get one, at least,"

The aroma of the chicken, made my stomach gurgle and sound,

I really should take it, for no one's around.

And so I tied the rope, on one of the metal showing from the roof,

I felt my mouth water, as I get closer to the food,

I tried to be careful, to walk in a slow manner,

And alas I was there, on the table,

Where heaven gathers.

I took time to pick,

And even tempted to taste it right there,

With the number of chicken legs they have,

I'm sure they wouldn't notice,

Oh look some crabs!

I grabbed some and would grab another,

I picked some grapes, some apple, some crackers,

I picked some bread, and then some butter,

And stuffed it on my mouth,

To cure my hunger.

Then I heard some voices, some footsteps closing in,

So I grabbed one more biscuit, then looked at my rope,

Now nowhere to be seen,

And while questions still lingers to where it could have been,

I chose to hide under the table, afraid they'd do something mean.
