I was thinking about what happened to Rangiku when she was young and got attacked by Aizen's men, maybe the major reason why Gin joined Aizen is that a part of her soul was absorbed by the Hōgyoku and therefore she is incomplete. That would explain why she couldn't attain Bankai even when she seems to be talented and also that would explain Gin fixation on Aizen, maybe to get back what was stolen from Rangiku.
