TEN YEARS AGO
“Jace!” I cried. He looked different and it scared me. I felt like every thing in my heart, everything I hold dear was gone and I was alone. “JACE!”
My friend was pale and his blue eyes were casted down, casting shadows on his cheeks. His lips were pale, losing their reddish color. I wailed and thrashed around. Arms wrapped around me and held me up, away from Jace.
I screamed harder and I felt my throat being scratched raw. “I want my Jace back! Give me back my Jace!” The person holding me grunted and my feet touched the ground again then I ran back to Jace with all my might. He was still sitting on the patch of grass between his parents' graves.
My knees scraped the ground and it used to make me cry and ask for my mommy but right then I didn't care. I only wanted my Jace to come back and be my friend again. I didn't want him to stay frozen and immobile. I was afraid that someday he would turn to stone and I would not be able to see him again.
