The First AVATAR

"Interesting... we should report this to Master.", said the black-haired guy after nodding his head.

Immediately after they said this, they vanished from the site.

"Mother... Look what I've got here!", said Ryuu in a loud voice upon hearing which his mother woke up from her sleep.

"Uh...!? Ryuu!!?", she immediately looked at all the blood that was on his body and rushed towards him.

"What happened to you!!? This... blood!!!?", she panicked when she saw the blood all over his body. She imagined many bad things that could have happened to Ryuu when he immediately stopped her.

"This is not my blood mother...", he said while trying to calm her.

"Eh? Not your blood? Then...?", she was still worried due to the blood in front of her.

He immediately flashed the large amount of meat that he was hiding behind him and said, "Look at this mother, we won't have to be hungry tonight!"

He said with a happy expression. But his mother's expression changed and she immediately said, "Did you steal it!!? No matter how hungry we were I never taught you to steal then why!!?"

She had misunderstood what he said and started to blame him for stealing.

It was not a good act and no mother would want her child to commit such crimes and thus she was angry more than happy.

"Mother, you misunderstood! I hunted this!"

It was unbelievable. The meat seemed to be large and she knew very well that it was of a strong beast after looking at the thick fur that was still attached to it.

Of course, it did seem as if it was hunted since most of the things were left uncleaned, but the fact that he stole was much more acceptable than him hunting!

So she couldn't possibly believe him.

"Don't you Lie now!", she said loudly.

But Ryuu had done nothing wrong. He couldn't justify himself because his own mother was refraining herself from believing him.

A poor sick child who had been bedridden till yesterday couldn't possibly kill a beast.

Even Ryuu understood that he was demanding his mother to believe the impossible. If he were in her place then he too wouldn't have been able to believe it so he had to, unfortunately, lie to her or basically twist the truth a bit.

"Okay mother, what happened was that the beast ate a poisonous herb by mistake and died. I happened to see it so I went and cut and brought something so that we could eat.", that was what Ryuu told after thinking for a bit.

She couldn't doubt him more so she believed him and then took the meat from him and kept it for washing. However, she did wonder about the foolishness of the beast that ate poison voluntarily.

"Go... wash and come back."

There was a small well nearby which was only for the poor slum people. Water was also provided to them but for that, they had to pay a huge sum of taxes.

But that could have been understandable if the water quality was good however that was not the case.

The water that was provided to them was actually the wastewater that the nobles would throw after bathing or using for other purposes.

That was what provided to them but right now they were desperate so none of them questioned.

Ryuu too went and washed while trying to avoid being caught by anyone since they would pose many questions if they were to see bloodstains all over his body.

As soon as he washed, he got out of the water and started walking back and reached the home.

Then he sat on the bed and started to stare at the locket which his mother had given him earlier.

"Weird... why does this locket give an ominous feeling...", he kept on glancing at it when his mother called to have some food which she has prepared.

He immediately ate it and then asked her if he could go to play for which she nodded her head and agreed hesitantly.

Ryuu ran outside enthusiastically but he had no intention of playing around.

He wanted to cultivate and get stronger as soon as possible and he knew a perfect place within the forest he had visited earlier were a lot of pure Qi was present.

He entered the forest again and walked towards that place. There wouldn't be the trouble of any beasts since he was sitting high up on a tree branch after climbing it.

Also, it was not too deep so there was not much of a danger. He arranged some leaves and made a normal tree house which was not that good but bearable.

"Good, now I can start cultivating here...", he then took out the herbs that he had gathered before.

The blue herbs were still shinning. Even though some were crushed, it was good enough to be used.

He immediately took out the core which he had obtained earlier.

"Okay, first let's eat these herbs...", he started chewing all the herbs raw without cooking or turning them into pills.

Usually, medicines and other things are made from herbs after they have turned into pills and due to that a lot of Qi and soul energy that the herb has dissipated that's why he thought it was right to just chew all of them.

Slowly and steadily he ate all the herbs he had brought and then immediately after that he sat cross-legged in a meditation position and started to cultivate.

A red light started to gather around him and his soul force started to rise slowly. His internal Qi was also increasing which was clearing his body and removing the impurities.

Soon 2 hours passed by and Ryuu paused cultivating.

"Huff huff, that was close. It's good that I stopped or else my veins might have been damaged."

He was still far from breaking through to the Lower Martial Realm. He had just started so it was inevitable.

"Hmm, based on my working time and speed and thanks to the herbs help, it will take around two months in order to break through..."

It was not too long but it was not too short either. Therefore he planned on practicing martial fighting techniques too.

"Very well then, let me first acquire my first AVATAR and after that, I'll start cultivating... Yes! That will be the best!"

In this world, there was another power that masters used and that was the power of the beasts and their cores.

Once they gained a core, they would use it to fuse with it and then acquire that beast's soul. Whenever they wanted they could use that beast's spirit and protect or attack anyone they wanted. Those were called AVATARS.

A person could have a maximum of one avatar but a very few talented people had 2 or even 3 avatars.

It was the same for Ryuu. In his past life, he had 3 avatars which were considered to be the rarest talent ever.

But little did he know that this life was a bit different from the past in which he lived. Something was definitely different, perhaps the laws? He wasn't aware of it, but maybe, he would be exposed to the truth soon!

"Bull spirit... be my first avatar!!!"
