Chapter 13

Waking up, I reached out to feel that Noor wasn't there. I felt upset at this fact until I noticed a note on the bedside table.

"Had to take care of some business pertaining to the group wreaking havoc in our kingdom. You looked so peaceful that I didn't want to wake you. Go ahead and eat some breakfast, then meet me in my office. Your's truly, Noor." I read the note out loud. I felt butterflies erupt throughout me and held the note close to my chest.

I made my way downstairs and into the kitchen.

"Hey, Hannah. How are you feeling?" She looked over at me, and she looked exhausted.

"I barely slept. Naiomi kept me up all night, switching between asking me a million questions about myself and profusely apologizing. I didn't get to bed till probably three in the morning." I hummed, searching through the fridge for some eggs.

"Oh, It gets worse." I looked back at her as I brought the eggs out of the fridge.

"Did you know that she snores? She snores! I didn't fall asleep for another hour after we laid down." I raised my eyebrow at her.

"No, no, and no. She slept on the couch in my room. She tried to sneak her way into my bed, but I zapped her ass on the floor." I chuckled while I cracked the eggs in the pan.

"Yikes." Was all I got out before Naiomi entered the kitchen. She made her way to Hannah and kissed her cheek.

"You seem exhausted, my beloved." Hannah snorted at her comment.

"Two words. You. Snore." She punctuated each word.

"I do not snore," Naiomi said, sounding offended. The smell of the eggs made my stomach growl. It smelled delicious as it enveloped my senses. As the eggs were almost done, I put the English Muffins in the toaster.

"I heard you snoring from my room." I played along, backing up Hannah.

"Blasphemy." I shook my head and chuckled.

"You snore." I heard Naiomi scoff.

"So, you're saying I'm a liar." I could feel the tension rise.

"Well… Not exactly… I mean no, yeah, no, definitely not." I put my eggs on my English muffins then made my way to the sink with the pan. I placed it in there and decided to come back to clean it after eating.

"Mhm… I don't know, Hannah. It sounds like she's saying you're a liar." I sat down and took a bite of my breakfast. I looked over to Naiomi to see her giving me wide eyes. I just shrugged my shoulders at her.

"Okay, fine. I fucking snore." Hannah's face lit up with a smile.

"I'm proud of you. Acceptance is the first step." Looking between the two, they looked very cute together. I believe they are going to complement each other very well.

I looked down to see that I was almost done with my second egg sandwich and started to feel sad. I should have made one more.

"What's going on here?" I snapped my head up to see Noor, and I could feel happiness surge through me. She looked at me and smiled.

"Well, I made myself breakfast, and Naiomi keeps denying that she doesn't snore." Noor laughed at this and then looked at Naiomi seriously.

"Oh, you definitely snore. Very loudly, I might add." Naiomi huffed and crossed her arms like a child.

"Whatever," Naiomi whispered under her breath.

"I'm almost done eating; then we can head to your office." She made her way over to me and kissed my cheek as she sat down.

"Perfect. You, I mean." I could feel my face heat up. Okay, she is smooth.

Noor and I were now in her office. She was scanning through some papers as I was sitting in one of the chairs sideways with my feet hanging over the arm.

"Why did you call me to your office if we were just going to sit in silence?" I saw her look up at me finally.

"Sorry. Ever since I could have lost you, I just want you close. I know that's not fair." I slid myself around to where my full body was facing her.

"I get it, but I'm safe here." She shook her head.

"I think we have someone on the inside feeding this group information. I just don't know who." I could feel my eyes widen.

"Are you sure?" She sat her papers down and made her way towards me.

"Yes. They were after you, but they couldn't have known who you were unless someone had informed them." I slightly shuddered. She sighed and picked me up, switching our places to where I was sitting on her lap.

"I need to keep you close." She borrowed her face into my neck and took a deep breath. We heard a knock at the door, and we pulled apart—much to my disliking.

"Hey, there you two. We just wanted to have a chat." I got off of Noor's lap as her parents made their way in.

Noor brought me behind her desk and brought another chair to where I could sit beside her, while her parents took the chairs directly across from us.

"What is it?" The parents looked at each other than us.

"I think it's time." I looked at them, confused.

"Huh? What are they talking about, Noor?" She looked at me then back at her parents.

"She isn't ready. I'm waiting for the perfect time." I heard her mom, scoff.

"Noor, there will never be a perfect time. We can all discuss it together." Noor sighed and put her head into her hands.

"What's going on?" Noor sucked in a deep breath before looking at me. Her eyes seemed sullen.

"It's about your dad." I looked at her studying her face.

"What about my dad?" She looked at her parents.

"Sweetie. Your dad's name is Yakeru Handa, correct?" I looked at her, shocked.

"Was. He's dead. How do you know his name?" Everyone just looked at each other.

"Someone needs to say something now," I said, irritated.

"Your dad is alive." I looked at Noor incredulously.
