WTFđ€Źđ€Ź he know it's fishy yet instead of finding out why he feel that way he takes the bait(pun intented) and konan a guy they don't know is in the room with them both and instead of listening and paying attention she went to sleep has she become less cautious even if the m.c is there? even if he seems like a civilian a good shinobi can hide their chakra just like them if i remember correctly there are way to do it. I get that he doesn't want to make an enemy out of the merchant, before they reach one of the big 5. Them crossing a border and the merchant then trying to label them as criminals/dangerous would not be good. But why give away the info that you know something is fishy? Just let him believe you are gullible and then shatter than belief once you have got what you wanted(enter big 5, some money). At that point you can tell him that you know he is fishy and demand answers. Until then he won't cause trouble because he thinks you will follow him like an idiot anyways.
